Charging to your Room

I have a question about charging food/other items to your Disney Resort Room. Is there a list somewhere that tells which restaurants allow this, and which don't? I know food carts probably would not, but what about places like Cosmic Ray's in the MK?

We are headed there in June.

I am pretty sure all the WDW owned/operated counter and table service establishments will let you charge to your room. But I think you are right, the carts will not. Or maybe some do, but not all.

I actually just read an article that said they had updated the technology in MK to include the carts (ice cream, popcorn, drinks, etc.) in the room charge program. They were testing it in other areas, and hoped to soon be expanding to all the parks/venues. I hope this works out!!! We carried maybe $20 per day in 2002. It was nice to charge everything and keep a running total on the room account.

I read the same infor as Renesa did (cast web site) and it did say that the carts now have new technology available that will enable them to accept room keys for purchases. It's just a matter of time before all of the parks have them. Sounds like they were listening to a complaint (this time).

Just got back yesterday and I charged everything to my card - including food from the carts (popcorn, mickey bars, etc.) at all the parks. The only food cart that didn't accept the card was the one at Blizzard Beach (donut cart). I love the convenience of charging everything - just don't get a heart attack when you see your final bill!!

Thank you so much for that information. Although, now I'm even more insanely excited for my trip (I have a tendency to equate "charging" with FREE !!! ) Your warning of "don't be alarmed when you get your final bill" is a great one for me.
