Do I actually give the front desk money and then when I charge on my room key, the charges deduct from the amount I gave the desk? OR Do I just charge and then settle up with the desk later? Thanks

I gave them a credit card and at the end of my tirp they gave me a break down of all my purchases that were charged to my card.

Each Disney resort has a specific credit limit it applies to each room charge account. Note that in many cases, if you hit your limit, the resort will simply charge your credit card and you'll have more credit to work with (which could be a bad thing for many people).

You must provide the resort with some kind of payment security (cash / credit card) when you check in or you cannot use the room key as a charge.

Yes, you give them either cash, travelers checks or a credit/debit card on check in. I gave them cash, they gave me a receipt and then every couple of days I stopped by the front desk to get a print out of our charges to make sure they were all correct. When I went to check out they just gave me back the cash I hadn't used and a complete list of our charges.
