Hi, We're actually staying at the Contemporary for night then going to my timeshare for the rest of our Disney vacation. While at The Contemporary I understand I will be able to use my MB to charge to my credit card but my question is, would I be able to keep those charging privileges the rest of the week when I am no longer staying on Disney property?
It's just so convenient to be able to use the MB to purchase what you want, I'm hoping there is some way that I can just keep my card active on the MB.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks,

Karen

No.

You can only charge magic bands when staying on property. This is because you're not charging the prices to the band, your charging it to your MDE account which is sending the bill to your card that's on file at the hotel. Your debit or credit card info isn't stored on the band, it's stored on the hotels system.

Once you check out the hotel and your card is off file, you no longer can scan charges with the band.

Charging bands and using the band as a room key are the only differences when it comes to bands for offsite vs onsite

using your MB to purchase things charges it to your room reservation not to your credit card.
it only charges it to your credit card after you've checked out.

so no you cannot use your MB to charge anything when staying off-site.

Got it, thanks for the quick replies.
Maybe I should be happy that I won't be able to keep the charging privilege on my MB, it's just sooo easy to spend your money that way. :sad2:

I've never found that it was a problem spending money, regardless.
I carry little paper things in my wallet that I can trade for stuff any time I feel like it. ;)

You do need to let the CM know you are paying by credit card so they can change the method of payment from the default of room charge.

Thanks all, not familiar with apple pay, guess I'll have to get some of those pieces of paper that Robo was talking about. :guilty:
