We will be at the Poly in less than 3 wks:dance3: I have only stayed at moderates. When I gave my charge card for the room, the cm said I could charge up to $1,000.00. On one of these threads I read value - $500.00, moderate - $1,000.00 and deluxe $1,500.00. Does anyone know if you can specify the amount you want to hold on the card? I don't want to go over $1,000.00. Is it mandatory deluxe must hold a $1,500.00 credit or is it the descression of the card holder:confused3 We are counting down the days:hourglass :yay: and I'm trying to keep to a budget of credit and cash. Thanks so much for your help, these boards are so informative:thumbsup2

You should be able to tell the CM to put a hold on $1000..... Several weeks ago the BWI put a 1500 hold for our room and when we went past that they automatically held another 1500. I was fairly sure that we had exceeded the 1500 and the express checkout summary showed that we indeed did. Called the desk and they said that they automatically authorize more if the amount is exceeded.

In summary if you only want to spend 1000 make sure to tell them not to authorize additional money without your approval.

It has not been my experience that the resort will automatically authorize more if the amount is exceeded. On at least two prior occasions, I have gotten to the $1,500 limit. Both times, charging privileges were suspended until I contacted the resort and authorized them to charge the $1,500 through to the credit card. It was only after that occurred that the charging privileges were reinstated.

At Pop, we exceeded the 500 charge a couple of times over. They automatically authorized more.

In my experience, BWI was the only one that did this for us. When I stayed at CR last March I had thought that they all would autmatically put the charges through and was quite surprised ( and embarassed) that my charges at a store were declined. I think you should be able to set a limit.

You don't have to have charging on your key card. IF you are concerned about your budget - don't even post a credit card at check in, and just use your credit card when you want to purchase something and use your cash when you want to.
