Its great if you have a US$ credit card. But we dont and our CCs charge the usual exchange and conversion fees . We do have a US$ bank account which we top up when the exchange rate is decent.

What we do is give them our credit card number in order to have charging privileges. And then we pay off the charges (in person at the front desk) with cash. We usually do this every couple of days after we get back in the evening. That way we never reach the limit, which would trigger a credit card charge. We also pay off the final amount the night before we check out. Any incidental amounts charged the morning of checkout we just let go to the credit card.

We opened an account at a US branch of TD. They provide free money transfers from our Canadian US$ account at TD here to the US Based TD account. Then we use their Visa Debit card as our card so charges come straight out of our account.

I have always paid cash when I charge to my Magic Band (or KTTW Card before). I just keep the cash in the room safe and go every couple of days to pay the balance.

You can ask the CM at the reservations counter when you check in if they can ESTABLISH a line of credit by giving them cash up front, that way it doesn't sit in your hotel room or burn a hole in your wallet (lol). We will be doing this later this year when we go and knowing the money is on an account rather than lying around somewhere is piece of mind too.

If you do put down cash, or provide a credit card to begin with, you can use you MB to charge away, just keep in mind that most resort hotels have a $500 limit so it's a good idea to check in with the front desk frequently and pay it off so you don't run into any problems while in the parks or downtown.
