Hi

Im really sorry if this is a regular question but usually only post on the UK boards.:confused3

I have a ECV that I have been bringing to Disney for about the last 15 yrs:scared1:

Unfortunately I dont think that its going to make another trip:sad1::sad1: so looking into buying a new one, but a much smaller one than I currently have.

The smaller EVC's only do between 5 - 8 miles so could anyone please advise me if there are places around the disney parks where I could re-charge my ECV:confused3:confused3

Many thanks:worship::worship:

I think there was a thread on this a while back with really good info. I know my Mom was able to recharge at multiple indoor and outdoor spots but you must look really closely to find an outlet. you might want to check to see if there is a larger battery available for your scooter, you don't want to spend part of your day sitting near an outlet!

From my own personal experience, I would pay to rent a scooter for Epcot. My little scooter I used to own, just couldn't make it all the way. I charged it for one hour at The Land pavilion, and it barely made a dent towards full charge.

Later on, I bought a second battery pack, which I kept in my car in the parking lot, just in case. :)

When I had a broken foot and had to use a scooter last summer, it died at animal kingdom. I went to the first aid center and they let me leave it there and crutch to a restaurant and eat lunch then come back and get it.

If you have a ECV that has a battery that is 18 volt, you should do just fine at any of the parks. The only time that I have ever needed to plug mine in was when the batteries were old and dying. Otherwise they would go all day long with no issues what so ever.

Try and get a ECV with a bigger battery. You will be so much happier if you do.

that can go for 8 to 10 miles on a single charge. Here, it's called a Pride to Go Elite model. Invest a little more now on a scooter; so, you will be safer with battery life and get a better, smaller travel scooter, now.

Practicing some good battery stradegy helps at Disney, too. Make sure the scooter gets a full charge each day. Also, turn the scooter off every time you are sitting still including some ride queues. Never have it on during a parade, a show, fireworks and so forth. When you eat or snack or see a parade find a place to charge the scooter if you need to charge it. A new scooter battery will keep a charge longer; so, this should help through the day. If you can walk some, you may want to park it here and there to save the battery charge through the day.

The other poster has another good idea. If you can't make it on one battery consider getting another one. For this stradegy to work it's better to have a car to store the spare battery, but you could carry it in a scooter basket on your scooter or in a bigger backpack. You do have to take into consideration the extra weight of the battery for the scooter. The lighter you are in weight the longer the battery lasts, too. Never get a scooter where you are close to weight limitations of the scooter. You can do it, but it dramatically affects how long the charge lasts.

It really depends on how long you plan to be at the parks each day, too. If you take a break at the resort then by all means recharge at those times.

We use a small, travel scooter and we can make it through the day at any park for about 10 hours without a problem (hubby goes 245 and he's at the upper limits of the scooter weight limitations), but we practice what we preach and shut the scooter off every chance we get.

You meant to say, 18 AH (Amp Hour) battery. Ampere Hours is the way to measure the life of a battery from fully charged to totally discharged. Agree that a scooter with 18 AH batteries would be fine for the parks. The Go-Go Elite Traveller is ideal. Its contains two 12 Volt - 18 AH batteries. :)

Yes, that is what I meant to say. Thank-you for correcting that for me.
