How do we charge drinks to our room account? Do they take our card to the bar and scan it or just write down our room number and have us sign for our beverage?

Curious and counting down in NM...

Only 17 days until we are in Fla and NOT at the office!!!!

Yeah, too easy.

I'm afraid I'll be a loon by dinner with all those tasty drinks every one has been recommending.

depending on when and where you get your drinks they may or may not scan your KTTW card. At the bars they want the card. The only time we gave them room numbers was when we did the drink of the day. You will also need you card at meals if you want an adult beverage.

So how do they know your not just giving any room number? You mean you don't have to prove what room your in? I wouldn't want someone charging drinks to my room!

ppiglet, JMHO, and it's no guarantee but I think the caliber of folks who choose DCL is a little higher than some places.

I think most places they take your KTTW. It's way easier.

Yes...cm mom it does seem from reading this board and others that DCL wouldn't really have to worry too much about this kind of thing. IMHO I really think I wouldn't have to worry about it. Just was kind of wondering! :teeth: :o That's one of the reasons we are paying more and going DCL.....better caliber of people. (And you are one of them I might add) ::yes::
Thanks for confirming that question for me. I can't wait til our cruise!

Not to be the dark raincloud....

I just don't think people should be overly lax with their things just because it's a Disney cruise.

After all....how many door signs get stolen?

It must not be a problem because DCL keeps doing it.
I suspect they even have a "rip-off" allowance built into the price of the drinks. Besides, those drinks cost so little to make, the entire price is almost profit.

Hi: We were just on the 9/18 cruise and our 4th DCL cruise. Each time we ordered a drink, purchased items in the shops, paid for massages, etc., our card would be swiped. In the shops, we were always asked for our room number after they swiped the card. It was a safeguard for us. Can't wait to use a KTTW card next year -- sailing on DCL twice!

On Castaway Cay they trook my card and then returned it when they brought the drink..I have never just been able to give my room number. Usually they take the card AND want the room number. I remember on Carnival they only asked your room number and it was SO tempting to give someone elses but I never did it...

We just got off the Wonder 10/17-10/21....everytime we made a purchase (at a bar, store, island, poolside, dinner, etc) they took our card, scanned it, and on the reciept we had to sign, it asked for our room number. When we got our bill on the last morning, all of the purchases were broken down under the name of the person who's card was used to make the purchase.

About the only time they do not scan the card is when you get a drink off those guys wandering with trays of drinks. They they'll do a handwritten one with your cabin # on the receipt. And even then they usually ask to see your kttw card to get the name right.

The cash register was broken at She Sells Sea Shells on Castaway Cay when we were there, and they just took down our room number for purchases.

Sorry if I confused anyone - but when we sailed in May I remember using my KTTW card very seldom for drinks - but I didn't do to the bars at night, only the Promenade bar during bingo. We never used our card with the roving waiters and I don't remember using it at Castaway Cay but possible we did.

Sorry for the confusion!
