My cousin said she noticed there was a $2 gratuity charge on her final bill for each time they'd used room service / She said they gave the person delivering their order a nice tip each time because she didn't know a grat. charge was added automatically. I don't remember this on my previous cruises, but we seldom used room service. Maybe it was there but I didn't notice it. Is this something new?

That's weird. Perhaps they ordered "not included" beverages that have an autogratuity added to them? But then they would ahve shown as well. Are they sureit's not an autgratuity for other beverages they got say at the pool bar or something? I'm not saying that it was their fault, it just seems odd.

Otherwise there should not have been a charge.

Again a good reason to take a look at your bill every coule of days. In the middle of the day there's never a line at guest services, and it takes less than a minute to get a printout.

I suspect that it was for a Coke or something - there has never been a charge for room service on our bills.

Cousin's teenage dtr. ordered a cheese platter every day at same time and cousin ordered a tuna sandwich once. No beverages. When final bill came there were $2 service charges for each time they'd ordered from room service. I just called to double check on the beverages. Cousin has been on cruise several times and they really didn't spend much $$. Sometimes those final statements can be hard to break down if you've spent a lot. Cousin said she didn't question it - just assumed it was a new practice.

Which cruise was she on? Perhaps someone else on the same cruise and look and see if they were charged as well. Perhaps Guest Services made a mistake?

If Disney is adding a gratuity charge to room service I hope they let their guests know. I do not want to be surprized when I pay my bill.

She was on the Wonder 3 nite cruise last Thurs. I asked again if one of the kids might have gotten a soda but they took their own sodas and water and besides, I'm not sure how much a soda is, but I doubt with tip it would have been an even # like $2. or as cheap as $2. with gratuity. She paid her bill off while on the ship and never asked because the dates and # of $2. charges matched up with her # of times they used room service. She wanted me to ask if anyone else was charged $2 each time they got room service.

Any recent cruisers out there that were charged gratuity for room service?

I was on the 1/19 Wonder, and was given a slip to fill out for gratuity each time. We were only charged what I signed (I gave them $2/plate).

I was on the Magic Cruise from Jan 25 to Feb 1. The only room service we had was for coffee and pastries in the morning, but there was not extra charges. I did tip in cash as the coffee and stuff was delivered.

As long as I knew it was happening, I wouldn't mind the $2 tip charge. Then I wouldn't have to have cash at all, but I would want to know about it in advance.

Of course since I have always tipped more than $2, it would either be a savings for me or I would still need cash to tip extra.

Could it be this? We has some room service charges for small amounts like that on our bill too. I was confused at first but then realized it was candy or drinks my kids charges at the movies. It appeared on the bill as room service. Maybe that???

I also hope that if DCL implements a new auto grautity to room service that they at least let guests know....I have no problem at all about tipping cash for room service, but I certainly do not want to be charged again for a gratuity on my bill.

Same with bar service....if I am only getting one drink at the bar I do not feel it necessary to tip the bartender again, since the auto grautity is already added. If I was to hang around the bar and order several drinks, then I would certainly give him an additional tip.

When we sailed on the Magic last year, we had the charge for room service tips on our bill. Since this was our first cruise, I thought it was automatic. I'm glad it was there, because I didn't have any cash for room service tip twice (safe locked with DW's KTTW). A difference may have been our package included tips???

I will check at registration when we sail next month, and if no one has posted any explanation by then, I will let you know what they say.

Disney is the best at making right any mistakes....even expostfacto....just call them or right them....they'll do you right, make up for the mistake. Quite frankly, after months on end of being a working stiff, the thing I like best about a Disney vacation is how much they kiss your b___ to make you happy.
