Charge for making reservations?

We just booked for May, and I made a reservation for Cape May. We do have the DDP, and so we have 7 TS reservations to make.

I just looked at my checking account, and noticed that there was a $40 pending charge from WDW. I'm assuming this is because of a dining reservation that I made. Are we going to be charged $280 ($10 per person, for 4 people, for 7 ADR's) to make these reservations? Why would they do this if we have the DDP?

I thought we just had to use the card to put a hold on the reservation and it wouldn't be charged. I'm so confused lol.

I'm just guessing here.... are you using a debit card instead of a credit card? I think that when you book a ressie they have a way to check and make sure the card is valid but the charge won't go through completely. Since yours is a debit card it may show up on the card for a little while, whereas on a credit card you wouldn't ever see it.
I've always used a credit card and never had any charges that I've seen except for Cindy's meals. Otherwise it is just that holding it.
I would call and talk to them and ask questions, but I think if you're using a debit card that could be it. I could be wrong though ;)
I'm sure they will figure it out for you.

I booked my reservations with a debit card and did not see any charges. I would check that out.

Pending charges can be released after a few days and that may be what happens. I would wait three or four business days and see if it went away or posts. If it posts I would call Disney. If you can't wait the few days and I do understand that too then just call Disney and ask. You shouldn't be charged for booking an ADR

The only reason you should be charged is if you don't show up for the reservation & fail to cancel in advance.

There is no reason why you should be charged in advance when you make any reservation except the dinner shows and CRT (and some of the special dining events). You should not be charged anything when booking a reservation for Cape May. I've heard of a nominal charge going through to see if a card is valid, but never to the extent of $40.

Don't know what difference using a debit card might make.

DDP has no bearing whatsoever on restaurant reservations at the time you make them, except for CRT and the dinner shows.

I called, and it was a glitch in their system. I made reservations for May 6, which showed up on the website as 5/6. When the CST looked in the system, it showed 3/6, but she also saw 5/6. They refunded my "no show" fee, and verified that I did still have my 5/6 reservation. Very wired, but apparently I wasn't the ony one with the issue, great service and resolution though.
