Characters subject to change:

I booked Chef Mickey's for breakfast, and the woman said that some characters are subject to change. Who would they be replaced with, or is there no telling? I was hoping to DEFINITELY have my fiance see Goofy..

Most of the time the characters are the same; occasionally, one will get "sick" or something and they're replaced with whomever is available. We've gone to probably 15 character meals since 2004 and never had any characters other than who we were expecting. I think that's just a "cover yourself" kind of thing they always tell you, just in case.

Disney Dining have also told me that as well. I guess to cover their bases and make sure people don't get disappointed. Chef Mickeys doesn't stray from the classic Fab Five characters although I can't guarantee Goofy. When I ate there, they had Mickey, Minnie, Chip & Dale circulating and Goofy was greeting by the entrance.

As a previous poster mentioned, they tell people that characters are subject to change on the off chance that someone gets ill or other complication. Reading the reviews of character meals here at the DIS, it's pretty rare to hear that scheduled characters didn't appear.

At Chef Mickeys a few months ago we had Donald instead of Chip and Dale, which is apparently an occassional substitution, but Goofy should be there. (He's my DH's favorite. ) Chef Mickeys is a lot of fun and I hope you and your fiance have a great time.

When we were there last September we had Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Chip, and Dale (no Minnie), so based on the other responses, there does seem to be a little bit of variation.

Yes, there are variations in characters at all dining facilities. But, having done the Chef Mickey buffet more times than I can count, I find it to offer more characters than any other on property, plus the menu variation is much better. This is only my opinion, I am sure there are others out there who would disagree.

Chip & Dale are no longer the "scheduled" characters at CM. They used to be, but they're not any longer.

Yes, as others have said, they tell you that to cover thier bases. I can tell you that in probably 8 visits to Chef Mickey's, Goofy has been there every time, along with Minnie and Mickey. Other times we have seen Chip, Dale and Donald in addition to those three.

Another character meal where I have always seen Goofy is Liberty Tree Tavern. You could always make a reservation there too! Good luck, my ds is a huge Goofy fan so we always have to see him at some point!

We go to Chef Mickey's at least once every trip and we always have Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, and Dale along with Donald greeting. One time we also had Goofy's son, Max, as an added bonus. HTH

as mentioned, for about 4 months or so now, Chef Mickey's is purely fab five now (although substitutions are always possible). chip & dale used to regularly appear, but do not any longer.

personally, i've seen goofy at CM's, Breakfastosaurus, LTT and Ohana

but regardless, it's never a great idea to book a character dining experience banking on any particular character except for maybe piglet at CP and that's just because he's hard to find outside of CP. fortunately there are some relatively easy spots to find goofy in the parks.

You could book LTT if you really want Goofy. I think he is pretty much guaranteed there.

it's strictly fab 5: that's mickey, minnie, donald, goofy and pluto.

back in the day, it was semi-typical for one set of characters to trade off during breakfast and dinner, such as pluto only for breakfast and donald only for dinner. sometimes it was minnie.

We just recently had Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip and Dale. (Donald was greeting by the buffet since the kayfabe rule is that he doesn't go near Chip and Dale). We have seen Pluto there before.

You can probably count on Goofy, I have never been there without him being there. If by chance you miss him, take the monorail to Epcot and find him at the Character Connection behind Club Cool.

And yes, Liberty Tree Tavern features "Goofy's Liberate Your Appetite" so even if they have to stand Chip on top of Dale and throw them both in the costume Goofy will be there.
