Characters, Cavalcades & Taking in Disneyland?

Did the characters with their handlers have photopass photographers with them?
That’s a great question and I wish they did, but no, none of them did. Some of the places, they would say there’s no official line, just come up and take a picture when you’re ready. It mostly worked and the characters were great at spotting people ready with cameras. A couple times I was just going to grab a pic of my daughter with them in the background, but they were already posing by the time I was ready to snap the pic.

We were at DLR last week, 2 days at DL and 1 at DCA. We saw a lot of characters without even trying. At DL, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and one of the chipmunks could be seen on the Main Street train platform off and on throughout the day. We saw them as late as mid afternoon that I remember. We saw Woody on the upper level balcony of the Golden Horseshoe. Kylo Ren and Storm Troopers in Galaxy's Edge on a balcony performing. We saw one or two cavalcades down DL main street but we didn't hang out in that area much.

At DCA we saw Elsa and Anna, Oswald, and other characters at the circle at the end of Buena Vista Street. It seemed there were characters there frequently during the day. We also saw Lilo and Stitch, separately, about 30 min apart at the little stage in the eating area of Paradise Garden Grill. Mr. Incredible was on the pier near where the Incredicoaster launches about an hour after opening. Also saw Miguel from Cocoa and Spider Man.

Thank you so much for all the responses! :)

I'm mostly wondering now -

What is the latest time to be seeing characters out and about, and what time to cavalcades seem to stop running?

You're almost guaranteed to see characters at the train station after fireworks. I want to say I saw Characters in DCA at the round a bout in front of Carthay Circle while heading to the front of the park just before 9pm, but I can't remember for sure. Marvel Campus has a Dr Strange character showtimes that goes to 9pm. Other shows end early though. I always have terrible luck with cavalcades and only got the Anna and Elsa times of 3 and 4 pm. The toy story one in DCA was at noon.
