Characters at the end of meal shifts

Wondering what the typical experience is with characters when you have a late ADR for the meal- (for example, an 11:30 adr when they stop seating at 11:30 and close until dinner)....

I've mostly read that they visit with you and don't rush, but read a few accounts that the diners felt short-changed.
