Characters aside.....how's the food at CRT???

My kids are a little older, so are not so interested in seeing the characters, but have always wanted eat "in the castle". How's the food?? Not sure if we might want to do breakfast vs. dinner....????? Are all the meals pre-paid character ones now?

We went for lunch in September. I had the pasta and DH had the Major Domo Pie. Both were very good...not spectacular, but above average. I thought that the appetizer plate was pretty crummy (especially since I'm a vegetarian and pretty much everything was meat...no alternative was offered). The dessert, Blueberry Buckle, was better than I had expected based on the description that I had seen on this board.

Food aside, this was one of our favorite experiences on our last trip! Like I said, the food was good, but the ambiance was FABULOUS!!!!! I'm pretty sure that DH will want to eat here on every trip we take to WDW. He's 35 years old and whenever we talk about our last trip, he always mentions how great it was to eat in the castle.

We're having my birthday dinner at the castle on our trip next week! Woohoo!

We schedule lunch there specifically for the Major Domo's Pie. It's excellent and to my knowledge only available on the lunch menu. In our opinion, the apps are good, not great, and the dessert is good, not great.

Just ate lunch there Monday. We will do it again- We had never eaten in the Castle and my MIL wanted to meet Snow White. Major Domo's Pie was awsome and the Blueberry desert was good as well. If you like shakes get the Vanilla/ Chocolate Bibbity Bobbity Brew. They had basic kid things too, DD had chicken Strips.

The consensus on breakfast on this group is that the food is nothing to write home about. But I like it a lot. Before they changed the recipe for the french toast, I would say I absolutely loved it.

There are two different breakfasts available - "traditional", and "healthy". I usually get the traditional to start off, get seconds on a couple things, then get the healthy breakfast as a quasi-dessert.

Traditional is what you'd expect - sausage, bread, cheesy potatoes, french toast, and the like. The healthy breakfast has yogurt and fruit over granola, with a couple added touches.

As you might guess, breakfast at CRT often ends up being my only meal of the day.

It's a beef dish served with mashed potatoes over a puff pastry shell.

In all my years at Disney I have never had a bad word to say. But.....

....hate to say it but for us it was our worst dinner ever at Disney. Bad night maybe? Who knows but YUK...............never again. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe times have changed.
