Character Meets On Magic Class Vs Dream Class

We have done two cruises so far, one each on Magic & Wonder.

One aspect I haven't seen debated between the ship classes are the Character Meet and Greets. Do the larger passenger counts on Dream and Fantasy mean longer lines? Or do they do more meet and greets to balance out the increase in passengers?

The ship size has little to do with lines, but the crowd composition does. Dream attracts a lot of new cruisers, and we found the lines in her were always very long. On Fantasy, you have more repeat cruisers and meets seem to lose their appeal after a few times, so the lines are similar to those we saw on Magic/Wonder. On Magic cruises with a large percentage of Gold/Platinum guests, like cruises in Europe, we often saw characters with only a couple of guests waiting to see them.

Makes perfect sense. Our 1st cruise was the Wonder on an oddball 3 night cruise out of Port Canaveral in 2018, the Dream's nomal Nassau/Castaway route, and it did have longer lines than our Magic cruise. That would fit your theory of crowd composition vs ship size.

We've sailed on every ship, three times on the Magic class and three times on the Dream class, and haven't noticed any difference in lines for most character pictures.

The only exception was the Wonder in Alaska, when the characters were dressed in Alaskan gear. Those lines were longer than normal.

But other than that, we noticed no difference between ships in terms of lines for character meets.

Honestly, not to be flip but I believe we all have to get used to what was is no more. Sadly, going forward it is going to be a "whole new world" as far as meet and greets and other character interactions. I think we may all have to rethink and adjust that the things we took for granted onboard will be different once DCL sails again.:grouphug:

If covid is a concern the ships won't sail. Other than some people being more germ aware, post covid, kids are still gonna want a hug from Mickey. The soda machine and buffet are a bigger concern than the characters.

Covid isn't going to rule the world forever. In a year or two, character meets will return as they were.

I never said forever. I totally agree things will be normal again at some point but when DCL starts up again I don't think there will the same character M&G experiences. I am sure DCL will have another type of experience in place. Believe me no one wants DCL to get back to normal more than me. Its killing me not being able to cruise now and having to cancel my November PC cruise. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but I am being realistic enough to know it is going to be different for awhile. If DCL does not start up again until Covid has passed then nothing to worry about but I do think they will start up again before a vaccine is ready for the masses so there will be some modifications to the current experiences.....characters, shows and food service.
