While I like what Disney has done, we recently went to Taste of Boysenberry Festival at Knott's Berry Farm out here in California and they have found a way to safely do character meet and greets.

So, I wonder why Disney couldn't come up with similar meet and greets. No, you can't hug or touch the characters, but there is much more individual interaction than what we see at Disney right now.

Just a thought.

They certainly could, but don’t want to. Part of that is perhaps a desire to discourage more lines from forming. The other part? Cost savings?

Universal does something similar. Disney World has some, I think- they had Stitch in Tomorrowland on a stage. But I will say that there was a small crowd for Stitch; not really much of a wait to snap a photo with the Cat in the Hat.

I actually love the cavalcades - now we get to see so many more of the characters (usually pretty close) without having to wait in longs lines to meet one or two. Almost feels like the magic of the old days when I was little and characters were walking around.

yes! I loved that when I was a kid. My kids are so awkward during meets because they don’t say anything and I feel like I’m forcing them to do it. I think they will like this more.

Whoa @Evita_W! You get great results!!

Ok, that is awesome to see and I can definitely think of various places they could do this without queue problems. But, I can't tell, do they have Photopass photographers with them? Knott's version had their equivalent there and it really makes a big difference in trying to get photos and even to some degree the level of interaction you get as the photographers encourage the interaction.

I just read the article and checked out the pics. It doesn't appear that there are any Disney photographers there. There are CMs reminding guests to please stay physically distanced which hopefully helps with getting pics with only your family in them.

Hmm, so much like the food event that is happening at Disneyland, Knott's did it first and did it better, interesting. Seriously, I wish I would have taken video of how they did it at Knott's, it was efficient with socially distanced lines and really worked well and they had their photographers there. Having seen some reports from the Touch of Disney at Disneyland, it also appears that Knott's has done a much better job with their events. It will be interesting to see what happens when the theme parks finally reopen as theme parks out here and see the different approaches each park takes.
