Character meals

I am going to Universal with two eight year olds, and I would appreciate some information. Are there any character meals on Saturday night at the Universal hotels? If so, do you know the characters involved? Anybody have any experiences to share? Thanks in advance for your help.

The Hard Rock has a character dinner in the Sunset Grille on Saturday night. The Porofino has a character dinner on Friday night. We have not gone yet so I can't share any experience with you.

They change the times & locations every once in a while, so it's a good idea to double check by calling the hotel.

BTW, you don't have to be staying at the hotel to attend a Character Meal.

Does anyone know who the characters are and are they usually crowded?

Just FYI,

I called and they said that the characters at the Hard Rock were Woody Woodpecker and Scooby Doo... They get busy from 6 through 7:30...
