character meals

yes, the Sunday brunch at the Chicago Steakhouse in the Village is still a character meal. It runs from 12noon to 3pm each Sunday, if you want the balloon lady to come around your table you'd be best to book for 12noon or just after (we went at 1pm and she'd already been and gone by then ;)).

I was wodering if any of you could help me ...
I am hoping to go to Cafe Mickey next year for my 21st but I was wondering what you opinions are of the food and if its worth it? I understand character interaction is a huge part of going there but I would like both so if there's anywhere else you can think of what does great interaction as well as food, please do let me know.
My other option was inventions but it seems pretty steep and don't know what the food is like.
If I did go to any place with character interaction, would they still stop at our table as it will only be 2 adults with no children?
I THINK I read on here, not 100% that they just walked past them and tapped them on the shoulder as they walked past and I don't really want that, I am a big kid at the end of the day. Any opinions will help me, thanks. :wizard:

Can anyone reccomend the best character meal venue for vegetarians?

I would have thought, looking at the options and seeing the photos, Inventions but even then it might be lean pickings if you are a true végé :confused3

tinkerbell - its true that I found, particularly in Cafe Mickey, a lot of interaction is just the characters passing by, tapping your shoulder, putting their hands over your eyes (and in one case for Gepetto, stopping to complete the kids puzzle DD was working on!), which is really all part of the charm.

I can't though honestly say I saw a lot of non-kid tables to judge adult interaction by. I would say your best bet would be to make your 'intentions' known. Have a camera in your hand, turn round in your seat as they near, and they'll certainly react to you.

However - we had a few photos where they would summon a parent up to join, and my wife leapt up for a few character photos on her own (I deny any evidence there may be of myself giving Minnie a kiss on the hand in Cowboy Cookout), so I really wouldn't worry too much...

Or - borrow a child. :)

OH... and... order a birthday cake! The characters are summoned to the kitchen, music is played, they all bring it to your table. It's brief and manic, but they'll be there!

Thank you. I would love to order a birthday cake but its rather expensive for just the two of us. I know you can take certain one's away but were not that big sweet lovers.
Inventions on the other hand seems a tiny bit more adultish compared to cafe mickey so I think we may go there.

My brother is a vege (no meat OR fish which can be tricky) and judging by most of the menus he will have to just 'make do' but wanted him to have at least one nice meal! Thanks for advice, I'll get him to look thru the menus himself and decide.

I've always enjoyed the food at Cafe Mickey's - if it's any help I think the food's of the same standard as Frankie and Benny's and TGI Friday's so it's not as good as at Inventions which is expensive (€51.60 per adult last week) but like I said we've always been happy with it. Because I enjoy going to both we usually eat at one on one trip and the other on the next so next trip will be Cafe Mickey.

I agree with jakaru - if you make it clear that you want to interact with the characters then you should be fine. Last week when they came to our table I was the first to jump up with a camera in my hand!! :rolleyes1

tinkerbell - i think you might find you spend less at Cafe Mickey WITH a cake than you would at Inventions without it, and of course you'ld get the whole Birthday 'feel' more.

(We got passed cake from others birthdays Twice during our stay, and saw others giving cake away too, so I think a lot of people do it for the Event rather than the cake!)

Inventions of course will be a much nicer affair, much more adult, very 'calm' and quiet character meets, so it will depend how much you let your big kid out. :D
