Character Meals?

Are there any character meals at the hotels? Do you have to be staying at the hotel? Do you make reservations? Which characters? Thanks!

We have been to islands at RPR a few times when Scooby and Shaggys been there, think it was a Wed night. Although we stay onsite at RPR have never made reservations as there always seems to be lots of tables available, and this is in July, and you do not have to be staying there to eat at the restaurants.
I know there is some others as well both at RPR and the other resorts.
