Character Meals?

Ok i've never been to DLP before but been to WDW many times .. am taking 3 children that have never been to any Disney park .. so am wondering what character meals do they do in DLP? And what 1 is the best?

Hi Erin,

I've done 3 of the character meals at DLRP. Cafe Mickey in the Village does Character meals all day and evening, so you can book breakfast, lunch, or dinner there, and get character interaction. I've had dinner there, it gets very busy in the evening, and the food is okay, but is not the main attraction - the atmosphere is. There were a fair few birthday cakes coming out when I was in Cafe Mickey, and the whole restaurant was up and dancing and singing for the birthday girl/boy along with the characters. My sister has done the Character breakfast at Cafe Mickey, and thoroughly recommended it. She was there for the first sitting (which I believe is just after 7.30am) and there were only a handful of families there, so the characters spent loads of time with each table.

I've also done lunch at the Lucky Nugget Saloon in the main Park - for character interaction, this one was my favourite I think. Its a set buffet menu, with live band, and it wasn't more than half full when we were there for lunch, so the characters were around a lot, and very happy to dance to the band with the children, Sherrif of Nottingham was looting pens etc. Great fun, and the food was pretty decent too.

The best one for budget, IMO, is the Character Tea Party in the Plaza Gardens in the main Park. 13 euros or so per person, again a buffet, with savoury and sweet items, and drinks included in the price. Again, lots of character interaction, but it does get busy.

There is also character meals at Inventions restaurant isn't there, in the Disneyland Hotel, but I haven't done that one (yet).

Oh goodness, I forgot the Princess meal at the Auberge de Cendrillon!!!
Have a look at the thread about this restaurant - theres a couple of very recent reviews on there about this.

Probably the most expensive of the lot, but appears to be worth the money, if you have a real Princess-loving family member among you .

We enjoy the character tea party at Plaza Gardens in the Disneyland Park. It cost us £9 per person and its a buffet type meal consisting mainly of sweet treats, cakes, desserts etc. But they also have some savoury foods. We have always had great character interaction here and seen 6 to 8 characters each time we have been. The restaurant reminds me of Crystal Palace at MK.
We have also enjoyed breakfast at Cafe Mickey in Disney Village.

They do have a Princess meal now in the main park as well as another character meal which i believe is at the Lucky Nugget Saloon.

We've done the breakfast at Mickeys twice - once first sitting and once 2nd sitting. i much preferred the 2nd sitting as we went in for EMH first (Extra time in park for onsite guests) then out again for breakfast- thers nothing like an hour in the park to build up an appetite.

Weve also done the tea party again to be recommended. For the price of it you got loads.

We have done Cafe Mickey 3 times now and we love it. The food is not that good and the service is slow, but it's so much fun. The staff is great, the last time we went one of the waiters started to dance on a table and they couldn't get him to stop...

One other we've tried is the Sunday brunch at the Steakhouse (just haven't got round to writing the review yet!) There were quite a few characters here and there was plenty of choice of food and dessert. We booked one week before we went and had no trouble getting the exact time we wanted, although it was only 2 days before Christmas.

Thankyou so much to all ... I have a huge princess fan who has done breakie at CRT at WDW so this time is definitely for the others 1 of whom is a 5yr old boy and REALLY wouldn't be impressed with a princess breakie hahahhaha!!

I have 1 more question (sorry) ... What characters could i see at each location so i know which 1 is best for different ages .. 9 .. 6 .. 7 ... and 11

There are no definite characters at any of the meals apart from Mickey who usually makes an appearance at Cafe Mickey meals.

At Cafe Mickey breakfast this time we saw Mickey, Chip, Dale, Donald, Pinochio, Gepetto but this was different to who we saw there last yr

At the tea party we saw Tigger, and few from Robin Hood, Pluto - Sorry cant remember but if I can find DDs autograph book I'll know

Last Feb at the character tea party we had Geppetto, The Sheriff of Nottingham, Friar Tuck, Mr. Smee, Goofy, Tigger and Pluto. The year before we also had Daisy Duck.

At Cafe Mickey breakfast we had, Donald Duck, Robin Hood, Mickey Mouse, Stitch, Pinocchio, Minnie Mouse, Pluto and Geppetto.

I have also seen Captain Hook and Prince John at both Cafe Mickey (breakfast) and the Character Tea Party. At Cafe Mickey for dinner we saw Mickey (of course), Tigger, Goofy, Gepetto.

At the character tea party we saw loads, a good dozen I'd say, including Prince John, Captain Hook, Tigger, Eeyore, Pluto, Goofy, Donald and Daisy, Gepetto and Pinocchio too.

At the Lucky Nugget we saw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Robin Hood, Sherrif of Nottingham, Eeyore and Gepetto (we seem to see Gepetto all the time lol).

We had our first character meal in Dec at Cafe Mickey and we all loved it!! We are deffo going back in Summer. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was so much fun with the characters, staff and dancing and it was so lovely seeing how much the younger kids were enjoying it all.
