Character Meals

We have only done two so we are by far not experts but ours was Crystal Palace because we Love Tigger, Eeyore, and Pooh.

We also did the Garden Grill which was ok but since they serve a set menu family style the kids always ate all the good stuff (catfish) before the adults had a chance to get it. For a family of 5 they brought out one plate not much larger than a standard dinner plate, then seemed shocked that we wanted a second serving. It is supposed to be all you can eat. Good thing we weren't overly hungry since after the second one we felt like we couldn't ask our server for a third one.

Our family favorites are Chef Mickey's for breakfast, great food with lots of fruit options which we like and a happy lively atmosphere.

We also really like LTT for dinner, good food (for our family), active characters (and they tend to dress for Halloween and Christmas)

We enjoy others but those are our favorites.

Hands down, it's the Crystal Palace! :thumbsup2 Have always had great food and service there and it's a must for me on every visit. :woohoo: And don't forget the characters! pooh: :tigger: :eeyore:

1900 Park Fare for breakfast or dinner and Cape May Cafe for breakfast are the best for us. I like the quality of the food and I think it is better than some of the other buffets. We also like Chef Mickey's. We had a bad experience with an extremely rude cast member at Crystal Palace and wasn't thrilled with the food at all so we avoid that place.

We love Crystal Palace for breakfast. The character interaction has always been good and we enjoy the food. My DD8 with autism has a special affection for Tigger and it is her favorite meal of the entire trip.

We try to schedule it for our first morning in Disney for an early seating. I think it is so magical to be able to enter the park before it officially opens. Main Street is quiet and it is like we have the place to ourselves. We are able to take our pictures in front of the castle without dodging the crowd to do so.

We did Chef Mickey's breakfast, Garden Grill dinner, and Crystal Palace dinner in May.
We did not like Chef Mickey's - we had to wait at least 45 min. for a table despite ADRs, it was so crowded and noisy, and the food lines were really long. There were alot of kids who were going up to get their own food which is usually fine, but the lines were long so many kids just cut in front of others. It took a long time for the characters to come by, we ended up leaving before we met all of them. :sad2:
We love the Garden Grill and have gone there our last 2 trips. It is a quieter setting and the character interaction was great. Characters actually came to our table multiple times as our DS2 warmed up to them over time. We like the revolving restaurant novelty. We never had problems getting more food when we wanted it - seconds or even thirds (sorry you had a bad experience with this missymouse, but we didn't have this problem either time we were there). :cheer2:
Crystal Palace was ok - pretty loud, but not with long lines at the buffet. Food was good but not excellent. Character interaction was good - we met them all, but they didn't spend a lot of time at each table. :wave2:

We have enjoyed all of the ones we have done which are:

Crystal Palace at MK
Donald's breakfast at AK
Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary

I do have to agree that the Character interaction was better at Garden Grill than at Crystal Palace. Pluto startled DS7 when he put his mouth and his head. Dale and Mickey came at the same time which wasn't great for pictures to put in the autograph book but we just made 2 copies of the same picture.
But each character did come by 2 times before we were finished with lunch.

The kids and I liked the revolving restaurant but it bothered my husband until the food came, then he was fine.

We had a great time at all of the following (dinners only):
* Chef Mickey's (done it 4 times this year)
* LTT
* 1900 Park Fare
* Crystal Palace

If we had to pick only one...we'd pick Chef Mickey's!!

I love Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, and Donald's :donald: meal, in AK. Therer not great faboulas! The food, characters and everything else!!!

Cape May Cafe...hands down. We have done chef mickeys but didn't really prefer it. We will be doing the 1900 Park Fare breakfast on sunday so it could change
