Character Meals? Top two!

ANY meal at Tusker House is good, I enjoyed my dinner okay at Garden Grille but others - including my husband - rave about it. I love Crystal Palace for breakfast - but we had a really good dinner here on our last trip too.

Chef Mickey's breakfast is a tradition for us. We find the breakfast buffet to be good and my kids like seeing the traditional characters as well as the monorail run through the building.

Crystal palace food is great but the characters are not my kids favorites so we have only done it once.

1900 PF, Askerhaus and Tusker House are our favorite character meals for interaction by far but we have only done lunch/dinners there.

I made ADR for Chef Mickeys & Crystal palace next month. Stupid question, but since I've never been to DW I don't know, is there a good chance the characters actually stop by your table for a bit? I'll be with my sons, ages 2 & 4, so I'm sure they will want a picture. I've read that they will be present, but just not sure if they have to time to go to everyone's table, you know? Thanks! :-)

Yes they will all come around and stop by the table long enough for an autograph and photo. Have your pens ready. The toughest part is that these are both buffets so just watching the characters and your table to make sure you don't miss anyone while getting food. We found that our breakfast at Crystal Palace the characters moved through slowly we were done eating and still waiting on characters to make it to our table. Not sure if that is typical, we haven't had that issue at other character meals.

Glad to see all the GG love, we're trying it next week!

Only character meal I've tried has been Akershus and loved it!

For us it's Crystal Palace

The food is wonderful & I love Tigger (and Pooh too I suppose!) and if you can get a reservation before the park opens it's lovely to see a nearly empty park...although that's all changed with BOG and all that insanity! LOL

Second favorite is Cape May - we had one of the best interactions with Donald (DH's favorite) here. The food is a little more basic but good.

I've yet to have a great dining experience for dinner - characters good but food just so-so. Crystal Palace was fine but I won't hurry back. Chef Mickey's was good character wise but I hate being forced to take a picture and the food was barely acceptable.

Breakfast
Our favorite is Garden Grill - family style so no going back and forth to a buffet, characters were awesome, the sticky bun was delicious. I am trying lunch their next trip just because it fits in our schedule better. We also enjoy Crystal Palace and Cape May for breakfast.

Dinner
We haven't had a character dinner that stood out. We've tried Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare, and Hollywood & Vine (lunch).

Our family favorites: Tusker House breakfast and Crystal Palace breakfast

For dinner: we loved Akershus for food, atmosphere and characters. 1900 Park Fare for characters, but the food was just okay.
I have to ditto this to the letter, except the Akershus--I was there at breakfast and didn't care for the food.

Tusker House and 1900 Park Fare. My picky eaters can find foods they like and I can get more "grown up" selections. It's a win-win. And the character interaction is...as it is anywhere...what YOU make it!

Crystal Palace and Tusker House are our favorites , but 1900 Park Fare is also very good . This year we are trying Garden Grill for breakfast for the first time (we have had lunch & dinner there before ). It gets very good reviews here on DisBoards .

I LOVED a late breakfast at Tusker House. I did a 10:50am ADR so I could hold off on breakfast and this meal would hold me over til dinner. I also did a late breakfast at Crystal Palace. Both were good, but Tusker House was hands down the best.

I am seeing a lot of love for the breakfasts. We have all dinners reserved for our character meals next month - akershus, bog, tusker and fantasmic Hollywood and vine. Is breakfast typically better?

We've consistently had the best character interactions at Chef Mickey's and Garden Grill for dinner.

I would say our favorite character meals are Crystal Palace pre park opening ADR and 1900 Park Fare dinner. Our top dinner restaurants though would be Be Our Guest and 1900 Park Fare dinner.
