Character Meals for Birthdays

We are going WDW during the week of my great-nephew's 5th birthday and DD's 8th birthday. This will be DD's second birthday there and great-nephew's first time at WDW ever. We want to have their birthday celebrations separately since they aren't on the same days, plus it would make their day special for them. DD had her birthday at Chef Mickey's last time. Here's my question. What other character meals are good for birthdays for an 8 y/o girl? What about Cinderella's Royal Table or the Storybook Princess meals, do they have birthday celebrations? Or where would you suggest?

I never celebrated a birthday at those but we celebrated my oldest DD's 6th B'day at Liberty Tree Tavern. Minnie & friends came to the table and sang & then Minnie danced with her. She got a little cake & the server cut it up for everyone.

We got a little cake and birthday card for DS at Garden Grill. I saw birthday cupcakes at Cape May Cafe and Crystal Palace.

We did 1900 Park Fare for my DDs birthday last year. Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother, and the mice were there. We got a little cake or cupcake (cannot remember which) as well as an autographed placemat.

we were just in WDW this past week as a belated birthday celebration for my DD8 and we did the princess storybook lunch at Epcot's norway pavilion. not only did we see Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Alice (in Wonderland) and Cinderella, but the waitress got ALL the princesses to sign a birthday card for my DD (even ones who weren't there-sure it was probably already done and just lying around, but who cares?) AND she got a traditional norwegian cookie that said happy birthday on it in norwegian, hehe. she had a FABULOUS time and the look on her face as each princess entered the room was PRICELESS next time i'm getting a breakfast ressie at CRT no matter what i have to do, lol.

I celebrated my b-day at CRT. OMG, it was GREAT!!! I received a magical moments certificate, which all the pincesses signed. I got a little cupcake with a candle in it. And the waitress and my table mates all sang "happy birthday" to me. All in all, it was a GREAT place for my birthday, and I'm 20 years old (it was my 20th b-day in Disney).

How do you go about setting up a character birthday thingamajiggy for the little ones? Thanks.

You just tell the server (or hostess) that it is your little one's birthday when you check in or sit down.

We celebrated my son's 8th birthday at the LTT. Besides all the characters giving special attention and crowding around while the CM's sang HB... when we arrived our table was decorated with confetti and streamers, they brought a decorated birthday cake and all the characters signed a birthday card for him... a very treasured possession! It was great... not too loud and he had a blast!

I've been interested in the replies, as we'll be celebrating my dd's 9th b-day at WDW in Jan. '06, and she's requested a Character Meal (not princesses, though). What do they typically do for birthday kids at Chef Mickey's? Any other recommendations???

I just spoke with one of the representatives to try and get my reservations. I don't know if you all know this, but she said if it is your childs B-day, to go to Guest Relations and they will give them a birthday button. All day long they will be wishing your child a Happy Birthday! Now that sounds awesome.

I forgot about that! It's absolutely true! You just ask at Guest relations!
We also had a T-Shirt made for our son. The front said "I'm 8 years old TODAY!" back said "Today is my 8th Birthday" it got him a lot of attention. Which made the day for him. I went to 'Zazzle.com' and had the shirt in about 2 days... and they're not very expensive.

Yes, you can. And MK and Epcot have different buttons (not sure about MGM or AK), so if you go to both parks that day, be sure to stop again.

We also got balloons and a Mickey card in the room courtesy of the hotel (BC); not sure if all the hotels do that though.

We just had our DD's 2nd birthday at Chef Mickeys last week. She got a placemat signed by all the characters. And when Mickey came by he had a marker and signed it: Happy 2nd birthday Haylee, Love Chef Mickey , on the back of it. The characters paid special attention to her, and the waiter brought out a cupcake with a candle in it as the whole place twirled the napkins to the "celebrate" song. We opted not to get a cake since my kids are not real cake eaters and Chef Mickeys has such great desserts. It was a fun time.

Same for us last year for DD's 6th birthday at Chef Mickey's. It was a big deal and boy did she feel special. I highly recommend it.

We just got back from a long weekend birthday trip for my now 6 year old.

We had birthday meals at Sci-fi, Le Cellier, CRT, Tony's and PSB lunch.

At Sci-fi, it wasn't much of a big deal. He put a candle in my other DDs dessert and took a picture for us.

At Le Cellier he said they have a free moose but it wasn't like the moose head dessert so I paid extra for the moose head dessert. They wrote Happy Birthday on the plate and he had a phone with him and Goofy wished my DD a Happy Birthday.

At CRT, it was the little cake and a birthday certificate signed by the Princesses but not that big a deal made.

At Tony's, they sprinkled lots of Mickey head confetti on our table and gave my DD a free dessert and a waiter announced that it was her birthday and had everyone twirl their napkins and say Happy Birthday and blow her a kiss! They did. That was fun.

At PSB lunch it was just so special that Ariel was there. I made it a surprise just in case she wasn't there that day but she was. My DD was so excited to see her with legs. She made a big deal about my DDs red hair and her birthday. They gave her a birthday card signed by all the princesses and the waitress brought her a viking hat shaped sugar cookie with the horns dipped in chocolate for her birthday.

She wore the birthday pins each day and I had a shirt made saying "Celebrating my 6th birthday at WDW". She also wore a Guest of Honor Badge with her name on it. She got lots of Happy Birthdays.

I'm turning 40 at WDW in November and will eat at The Castle on my birthday and at Chef Mickey's I can wait!
