We are going to WDW May 30-June 5. It will be me, DH, DS (7) and DD (4). We last went when DS was 4 and DD was 21 months. DS at the time did NOT like the character meals since the characters scared him. DD is not like that. DS wants to do a character meal because DD will love it.

We are not big breakfast eaters and DS is usually the pickest on what he eats. I assume they are hoping to see Mickey though DD of course loves the princesses. We will only do one character meal as we most likely won't be on the DDP.

What character meal would you suggest?

I know you said you're not big breakfast eaters, but I adore the breakfast at Tusker House in AK. I also love the character interaction. It's Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, etc.

I also love the food at Crystal Palace in MK, we did lunch last year and it was very good. The breakfast is fantastic though! That's with Winnie the Pooh and Friends.

We are trying Garden Grill this year, which is in Epcot. That's with Chip & Dale, Mickey Mouse, etc.

If you want to avoid doing breakfast, then you do cut down your options... Chef Mickey is one where you get to see Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald. The food is just o.k., but the chance to see all those characters is very awesome and you can do breakfsat, lunch or dinner. Garden Grill in the Land Pavillion and the food is better than Chef Mickey. Chip and Dale and Mickey and Pluto are the characters and it is a good time. Chip and Dale are a blast. Our kids enjoyed the chicken drumsticks and mac n cheese.

You should definitely go to the Princess dining in Norway at Epcot :) It's even alright for a picky kid. They have pasta with meatbals and cheese pizza among other stuff on the menu. If the kid is picky just mention that to the server and the chef is usually more than happy to make something else, like a grilled cheese or something. I know a lot of picky kids liked the grilled cheese from when I worked there ;)

I would say Chef Mickey's for the classic characters (Mickey and crew) or Akershus in Epoct for a big dose of princesses. You can do dinner at either vs. breakfast.

Personally a BIG fan of Akershus. The food is good, the cold buffet is a nice bonus and you get a picture included in the price.
We (Me/DW/DD4) really enjoyed it.

I recommend Akershus....the food is great and you get the free photos. Also, you get a LOT of interaction with the princesses AND a princess parade for the girls at the end of the meal. Make sure she wears a dress! Snow While actually took my 2 year old by the hand because she was hesitant, and she led the parade throught the restaurant! It was a highlight for her, for sure.

The best way to see Mickey and Minnie is in the new theater Meet and Greet at MK. You can get a fastpass that is separate from the other ride fastpasses. I took 2 of my 3 kids when we split up one night. I wish I had taken the whole family b/c the interaction was superb and the background is gorgeous. It would've made a great Christmas card picture!

I got some very very nice pictures of the kids with Mickey and Minnie and the red curtain background really looks nice! I think this was WAY better interaction that the Chef Mickey meal which was not very good and Mickey blew right past us. We won't be eating there again.
