Character Meal - The Kitchen or Superstar Character Breakfast?

We are heading to Universal Orlando for the first time in February. We want to do one character meal. I have it narrowed down to the character dinner on a Saturday night at The Kitchen (we are staying at HRH) or the Superstar Character Breakfast at Cafe La Bamba. My DS's must see is a Minion! Other characters would just be a bonus. I'm leaning toward The Kitchen as the parks close at 7 pm each night we are there, so this would give us something to do in the evening, plus we are not huge breakfast eaters and their menu looks good. However, I also like the idea of having access to the private viewing area for the Superstar Parade that you get with the breakfast.

Any feedback on these meals would be greatly appreciated!

if you do the hotel character dining, you order off of the regular menu.

the 3 deluxe hotels rotate during the week on hosting the characters to be there from 5 to 7 on specific nights to interact with the dining guests.
the Kitchen is open to anyone.

hours might vary depending on the season you are there.

the character breakfast in the park has a set menu to chose from.
you have to book this in advance.

Thanks so much! In doing a little more research, the menu at The Kitchen is definitely a better fit for us, so we will do that. Already snagged a reservation on OpenTable!

i have done both and prefer the menu at the kitchen.

in october, the characters were homer simpson and scooby.

characters change so no guarentee you will have the same as i did.

one tip i can give you is ask after you check in what night the character dining will be at your hotel.
and what hours will the characters be present.

there have been times that the hotels switch the nights they promote the character dining.

you don't want to go to the Kitchen and find out they characters are at PBH or RPR......

We loved the Superstar Character Breakfast. It was really cute and the food was really good. If you definitely want to see a Minion, then you'll want to do that one. I don't think the hotel character meals guarantee any particular characters.

We are BIG fans of The Kitchen! The staff has always been incredible and the food very good. We've done all three meal time slots and never been disappointed.
If you are a burger fan...theirs are among the best I've ever had.

As MAC mentioned, check with them to verify the characters to appear, and their schedule.

BTW, The Minions were very well-behaved at the La Bamba when we did that meal, only one "short" food-fight. ;)

Thank you so much everyone! This is such great information. My DS HAS to meet a Minion, so we've decided to do both to make sure he gets to meet one. Plus I want to eat at The Kitchen, so we'll keep that Saturday night reservation as well. Thank you, thank you!

I was gonna suggest that, but didn't want to be blamed for helping put another family in the "WDW/USO Poor House" like us!!! :bitelip:

be sure to do the DE ride.
once it is over, you can meet a minion and have pictures taken with them at the "dance party" at ride exit.

this empties into the gift shop.
