Hi I am going to DL with a big group, approx 20 people. I think we are planning on doing Goofys Kitchen to celebrate my sisters 30th B-Day. When talking to a friend we thought it would be nice to do a girls only princess lunch while there, but not sure what would be good for the boys to do while we go for lunch. Is there a character meal that the boys couyld do or any suggestion of a something special they could do, the ages range from 1 year to 62years.

Also will we be to get seating for 20 at Goofys kitchen?

TIA

Goofy's Kitchen has the best character breakfast, in my opinion; of all of them, they have the widest variety of food, and alot of the "classic" characters. If you go, be sure to try the delicious Creme Brulee French Toast!

Last time I was there, there was a large group of about 12 to 15 people dining together, so I don't see why they couldn't accomodate your party! I'm sure they'd be able to tell you when you call to make your preferred seating reservation!

We had a large group of about 20 during the DisBoards Girls Only Trip last year at Goofy's for brunch. I think it's the best character meal "overall" and they definitely can accomodate large groups. That said, we did have to ask (twice) for character interaction, I mean that's what half the cost is - the atmosphere, right? Maybe because we were a bunch of women chit-chatting away we were skipped. It was a fun time. I recommend it.

Spacemermaid and I are definitely in total agreement about the great Goofy's Kitchen breakfast/brunch! It's my favorite and has been for 16 years! (I was not as fond of the dinner when I had it.) Even though it doesn't sound like it is a question of whether or not to go there, I will emphasize reasons why you will enjoy eating there: the food is fresh and of good quality, there is a better/larger variety of things to eat than at the other buffets, usually the character interaction is quite good (though it does sound like they have 'off 'days every now and then), and it is good for men and women, boys and girls.

In addition to the creme brulee French toast mentioned by Spacemermaid, just the other day my friend ate something at Goofy's like a bananas Foster crepe, I think it was. I could be wrong on that, but I THINK that is what it was. She always tries something new every time we go there, along with getting the reliable favorites. My friend also highly recommmends the biscuits and gravy, the croissants and the Mickey-shaped cobber (sometimes they have apple, sometimes it is apple blueberry, sometimes peach). I love the mini muffins (the blueberry muffins are chock full o' blueberries). They have mini-cinnamon rolls - and I love a good soft, warm cinnamon roll - but I wouldn't recommed these because they did not seem fresh. They seemed kind of dry - and it was 7:00 a.m.!!! Everything else is great too - I should point out that the FRUIT salad is wonderful and juicy and fresh! I tell you - I don't care for honeydew melon on a normal basis, but it is tasty and juicy at Goofy's!! The pineapple couldn't be any sweeter. The bacon is delicious - in fact, I am craving it right now, and I usually don't eat bacon anywhere else but at DLR. The eggs are fantastic. They even serve pepperoni pizza and fried chicken at breakfast, for kids who may want that. My friend and I happened to get a good bargain on Goofy's when were there on December 21, but we both agreed that the food is so good there, we never mind paying the full $32 or $37 per person price because it is SO worth it! And the characters are usually on their game.

As for what the guys can do while you all are at the Princess meal, if they want another character meal besides Goofy's in the morning, they could try Storytellers Cafe. Storytellers also has good non-character meals the rest of the day. They may just want counter service, in which case Taste Pilots Grill in DCA is yummy (GREAT fries), Plaza Inn in DL is good, Redd Rocket's Pizza Port is okay...there are lots of choices. Food is underrated at DLR, I think, It used to be really inedible back in the '80s, but they have vastly improved the quality at most of the restaurants.

Make sur to call Disneyland dining and give them plenty of notice about the 20 people at Goofy's, though, so they can prepare for you and seat you all right away!!

Have you called for priority seating at Goofy's Kitchen? They'd be able to tell you if they can accommodate 20 people at one table.

Our family had a terrible time at GK and we don't anticipate going back. We much preferred Minnie's breakfast or Lilo & Stitch. We were a party of 4 with 2 small kids and we were ignored too. At Minnie's and Lilo we saw everyone more than once and the characters played with our girls. Much better IMO. :) But, I know many others here have had great experiences at GK and that's why we tried it, it got so many great reviews here we thought we couldn't go wrong! :) I'm sure you'll love it and I'm sure they will accomodate your party, you will probably have to break up into smaller tables but they will put you all together. :)

We love the Princess meal, we get great interaction there from the Princesses, we've always had good food and the girls love it. :) I'm sure your group of ladies will have fun too. :) As for the guys, I agree with the Storytellers idea, they will be close to the ladies and the food at Storytellers is supposed to be very good. :) The Princesses are the only characters that are out at times other than breakfast, at Storytellers, Minnie's, Lilo & Stitch & GK the characters are out at breakfast only. :)

Oh, I just thought of something...if the guys don't want to do a character lunch with the Princesses and you gals do, send the guys to eat over by the Princess Fantasy Faire for brats!!! Guys love brats right? It's CS so no ressies needed. :)

GK does have characters all day and night. In fact, their dinner usually has more characters than the breakfast/brunch has, because it is a little busier then. I just didn't really personally care for the food choices at the GK dinner, but other people do (I know Jadedarkstar, for example - what happened to her? - really loves the GK character dinner more than the breakfast). I prefer the breakfast and stick with the tried and true (translation: safe!). Then again, I haven't eaten at the GK character dinner in about 13 years, I'd say, so it might be time for me to try it again!:goodvibes

Ahhh, thanks for the info Sherry, I didn't realize GK had characters out for dinner too. :)
