trying to decide what character meal a teen male would enjoy the most. I'm not sure if he has ever been to Disney, but if he has it has been a long time. Thanks for any suggestions.

our last trip we tried the rotating restaurant in the land (garden grille) - while it was a character meal - my teens liked it because the food was beef & turkey & was a little more classy than the more little kid friendly chef mickey -

Obviously not your kid:confused:, why are you concerned? Is this a big family gathering, are you helping someone else plan adr's, etc.

Personally, I don't know of any teen-age boy that would choose to go to a character meal. If it was a family thing then OK- CHOSE A NON-PRINCESS Character meal, maybe the ones with MICKEY, MINNIE and CO

I think the question is which would he hate less. Maybe he would like a dinner show like the luau?

Sorry folks .. BUT my DSnow18 who LOVES Disney would beg to differ...

He has been to WDW 10 times... so some of his preferences may have to do with Tradition....

however... since he is asleep now and I can't ask (but have asked him before)... here are what I think would be his thoughts...

1. CRT... DS is Greeted by a Beautiful Princess... gets a pic with her... then given a sword and shown into the Castle which is the Center of the MK...plus the Symbol for it. He can order delicious food whilst being called "Prince"... my DS LOVES CRT

2. 'Ohana's .... DS LOVES 'Ohanas... the polynesian food.... Stitch...Mickey Minnie...

3. Now that DS is older... I'll add in these... DS's FAVORITE meal at WDW is Teppan Edo. He now loves anything asian and Sushi...so Cali Grill is a great choice....

Hope you all have a wonderful trip !

Mary

Oh - And will add in...

HDDR DOES have some Bawdy humor that only older teens would "Get"...

DS18 LOVED HDDR in May 2010... our last visit...

Hugs,
Mary

1900PF is a great choice. The step sisters steal the show with their humor.

I will 2nd this-1900 Park Fare. While he may not get much out of Cinderella and Prince C., the step sisters and step mother can be a hoot. I've seen the sisters interact alot with teen boys, proposing to them, etc. I made an ADR for our upcoming trip!

Actually my first thought was a character meal with the princesses. When we took DS to WDW as a teenager, he kept commenting on how "hot" the princesses were. Bet he'd like his picture taken with a "hot" princess.

thanks for the suggestions. No he is not my child but he is going with us and it will be his first time going to Disney World and I want to do everything I can to make it memorable. He is not your typical guy and he appriciates doing different things and is very open minded.

I would never drag him to something I knew he wouldn't enjoy. Thanks to all that reassured me that some guys do like going to them, for a minute I thought I was going to get eaten alive!

My son is 13 and I've just noticed that he has lost some interest in the characters. But I would think a kid who has never been to Disney would love any of the character meals regardless of his age. My son prefers the all you can eat breakfasts, with Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's being his favorites.

My 14 yo ds isn't into characters, but he is into all-you-can-eat buffets!

If he had to pick a character meal, he'd lean toward a non-princess buffet. I'd say that food-wise, he's enjoyed Crystal Palace, Tusker House (breakfast) and Cape May (breakfast) the most. None of us are big Chef Mickey's fans.

Our boys are 15. They are no longer into the characters. They do like Hoop de Doo Revue.

We have the hoop-de-doo booked, it is a must for our family. I have also booked Crystal Palace. Found out today he has never been to Disney and we are so excited to get to share this trip with him! He even told me the character meal sounds like fun.

Everyone is a kid again at Disney!!

My teenaged boy had a great time at 1900 Park Fare...one of the stepsisters pulled him onto the floor and there was a great exchange between the stepsister, my son and the stepmother! He got right into character and it was hilarious! Now...if I had told him ahead of time what might happen then maybe it wouldn't have been so great but because it was a total surprise-he had a blast! They danced and she gave him a big pink kiss on his cheek! We actually saved the "kiss" by placing a piece of paper on his cheek and transferring it to the paper! :goodvibes
My other vote would be for the Hoop de doo Revue! That show is fun for all ages! Both places are all you can eat...so with a teenaged boy, that is a huge plus! :goodvibes

My kids are weird so here goes:

If you are looking for food and interaction, why not try WL's Whispering Canyon? They are boisterous, funny, but no characters to make him feel like a little kid. Food is good there, too. The skillets will hurt you- even a teenager.

It is a little pricey but there is also Lunch with an Imagineer. We will be trying that on a DH/DW visit next year. This is by far one of the most talked about lunch events that I have ever read about on the Boards. This is amazing to me- to be able to speak with someone who creates the magic that I get to enjoy, regardless of what they do. Heck, I'm all "growed" up and can't wait to hear the stories...
