Can you suggest a character meal for 9 & 11 yr old boys...trying to find something extra for them...

I took DS for his 12th birthday this past Spring. He really loved the character interaction at the Garden Grill. Next trip we are trying Chef Mickey's for him and Donald's Safari Breakfast.

Good luck!

My DS12 likes Chef Mickey's w/ 1900 Park Fare breakfast coming in at a close 2nd b/c of the Mad Hatter.

Ohana breakfast - my daughter was 7 and my son almost 13, and they both loved it. Stitch was a hoot!

I'd suggest Crystal Palace and Garden Grill. For non-character meals, I think the may like Sci-Fi and Coral Reef which both have a cool atmosphere.

Is the character meal going to be a surprise? If not, the boys may want to pick a meal or two. Maybe 3 options depending upon the time of year you are going. It may be hard to get an ADR at some of the character meals.
Let us know what you decide! :)

For something special, this isn't technically a character meal, (although Mickey did show up one time we were there... he was diving in the tank) you may try the Coral Reef in Epcot! Do a search on previous threads... the Coral Reef used to make special place mats and signs in the tank for special occasions. You had to call them directly to make the requests.
My daughter is 12 now and still requests either Chef Mickeys or Coral Reef as her special dinner each visit! Good luck!

We went last December when my boys were 7 and 10. They loved Chef Mickey's and we also did Liberty Tree Tavern but I believe that has now changed and there aren't characters. Also, are your boys big into characters? Mine weren't so perhaps something like the T-Rex restaurant Downtown Disney or other themed restaurant might be more enjoyable.

Last year, my son turned 12 on our trip. He enjoyed the character meals, which kind of surprised me. We did Garden Grill, which was VERY low key, and has "boy" characters. And we did Crystal Palace for my daughter the Pooh fan, but he enjoyed it too, and I got a picture of him with Tigger.

Not really into characters...I was thinking about T-Rex DTD....I know we are going to do Rainforest Cafe too, not sure if at DTD or AK....

Thanks...

Its been a long time since I was at DW...where abouts is Garden Grill, is it at one of the parks or dtd....

Thanks

Perhaps you have seen my other post on another thread floating around about a extra surprise for them...I was thinking of a wishes cruise, but was told that you can't see tinker bell coming down the wire, and yes I know its pricey but I just didn't know what elsed to do...

So I decided to look into a character meal but neither are really into characters, and the majority is for girls, I have nothing against that I have granddaughters too, just they are not taking this vacation with us...

Someone mention T-Rex, I have thought of that, I like that...we are also doing Rainforest ...and for surprise I thoght about doing the Pirate thing, that is a specialty...

We are not going until April 2 - April 9, Easter Week, and yes I know its gonna be busy, but I would rather it be busy and nice weather, than busy and humid/hot/summer time....we are from Louisiana and deal from HEAT / HUMID enough...lol

Thanks

My DS11 wasn't too into character meals on our last trip in Feb. The only one we did was Chef Mickey's breakfast. He had fun, but got kind of embarassed by the character interaction after a while because there were a lot of "little" kids who were waiting to see them at the next table. This may be because he's 5ft7 and doesn't look 11 (and he knows it..), he gets embarassed easily ;)
I just asked him and his favorites are Boma (#1!), Ohana and Sci Fi in that order.

Thank you so much!

At 9 DS liked Donald's the best but by 11 was not really into the CM at all anymore. He did like Rainforest, Coral Reef, Pime Time, Whispering Canyon Cafe, and the HDDR.

Another idea for something special might be disney quest.

I however learned after a trip or two that the trip it's self is special enough and I really do not have to try to make it more special by adding more things.

One of DS's favorite things is letting him plan the whole day. Which park, which ride, where to lunch etc...and it cost nothing extra!!!!
