I am taking my 72 year old Mom in our trip this Feb. Should I book a character breakfast for her? She was at WDW back in the late 70's. My two daugherts think she may enjoy it. I was thinking of Cindy's (we have never tried for PS here). If I can't get Cindy's should we try Crystal Palace it should be newly refurbished by then?

if not cindy's how about the princess breakfast at norway? one thing i would keep in mind is: are there any characters especially she would like to see? and how is she around small children? i agree w/your daughters that she would enjoy a character meal, but need to find the right one, keeping in mind her physically ability and the noise level at the meal. and of course you want this to be a pleasant and fun experience for your mom. http://www.wdwig.com/cbchar.htm have you looked at this site? it might be helpful in planning. happy eating!:p

Absolutely, regardless of your age you are always a child at heart. My mother was in her late 60's the last few times she went and enjoyed them immensely. Go and have fun!

She is in great health and loves kids so noise level is not an issue. We will do MK the same day as this ressie so I thought it would be easiest to have a PS in the MK. I could also consider Chef Mickeys or O'Hana.

My 70 year old mother in law is a plain home cookin' kind of gal and she said the only meal she enjoyed the whole week was Liberty Tree Tavern character dinner.

Was that because of the meal or characters? My Mom loves all types of food. What the meal consists of is not the issue. I just don't know if she will get a kick out of the meal, or if I should pull my hair out trying for Cindy ressies.

You might alos want to Eat at Primtime. We had a blast and my mon got into the whole thing. It was great. She played around with the characters at the meals too. I love how the Characters pick up on clues and know who to pick on. I know My mom's head was a prop for DD's autograph book several times.

My 84 yr old mother liked her breakfast at Cinderella's. We also took her to Boma's for dinner.

We took my mother with us last year for the first time to WDW and went to 6 character breakfasts with her and the kids. Her absolute favorite was Cape May Cafe. When she went back this year she actually booked Cape May for herself and my step father to go to alone. The character interaction there is so good for adults and childern.

I am taking my mom (78) to DW for her 1st visit in over 15 years. Yesterday we were in my car and she asked "When are we gonna eat with the animals?" I told her,"Mom, we're not staying at AKL and we wont be eating there." She said,"NO, I mean the other animals...mickey,minnie and goofy". I had to laugh..she was so serious. I had already gotten PS for Chef Mickeys dinner buffet because I know she loves Goofy. She then asked me if I thought she could get her picture taken with Goofy. I told her yes, I was sure she could and she said "A kiss from Goofy would be even better!"....;) She is so excited!

This is going to be a "girls only" trip -- myself, my Mom and my two daughters (10 and 14 at trip time). All your posts make me so excited. I think I will purchase her a book Disney for Seniors she really has no idea what she is in for other than a week with her granddaughters.

Who are the characters at Cape May?

Renee

Cape May Cafe is located at the Beach Club Resort. The characters there are Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. I have a picture of Chip with my Step-father that is awsome. I don't know how to post a picture, I will try to figure it out or I can E-mail it.

She may prefer Mickey and Minnie and the crew to the Princesses. Most of the princesses are "new" compared to when she grew up. She went to movies when there would be a Mickey Mouse cartoon before the movie started. The Princess deal for Disney really didn't get going until the 1950s (Snow White excepted, of course).

Or she could LOVE the princesses because they'd remind her of when you were little.

Or she could LOVE the princesses because she'll get to watch your daughters.

If I was trying to cue memories of her own childhood, I'd go for Mickey. I wouldn't go to a Princess breakfast if the cast was going to be the "new" princesses (unless she is current in her Disney movie viewing).

Two years ago we took my mother, 75, for her first visit to Disney. We had our first meal at Chef Mickey's and she loved it. She got into the waving or twirling of the napkin. She really enjoys it and has a picture of her and mickey in her living room from this dinner.

We enjoyed Cape May on our trip this year. The food was good, fresh fruit on buffet was excellent. Also, I think Crystal Palace is a beautiful setting although I am not as fond of the Pooh characters as the Mickey crew.

I wholeheartedly agree!! Ditto the new breakfast at Norway, though I haven't been yet...

Was in WDW for my DM's very first visit. She is almost 70.

I also vote for Chef Mickey's. So many characters of her era! She also remembers the hoopla around the Contemporary and the monorail when it opened. Mom loved the food at CM, thought it was a great deal ( she used to be in the restaurant business and was always a bit critical) and of course went nuts for the attention she got from all the characters as well as the kids' joy. After dinner we rode and rode around the monorail and she was THRILLED!!!

Enjoy! It's almost as great as watching your kids!

We do Mothers and Daughter's trip too. Me, DM (will be 69) and my DD (8). Last year was first Character meal at Chef M's for dinner. Mom enjoyed it. The food was good and she enjoyed watching my daughter and all the other kids. She didn't like the price so much or having to have picture taken and then solicited to buy it....which she did.

I want to do it again this trip for dinner but then try Cape May for breakfast since we'll be at the Boardwalk.

She's as excited about the trip as us.

hightown, I'm sure your mother will like the BWI, it is a lovely hotel and more sedate than some others. We liked the Cape May breakfast alot but were glad we weren't staying at BC as it seemed more busy than BWI.
