Character dining

hi.... we only have one day at dlp in June. I really wanted to book some character breakfast but have since been to.d that this is only available to guests staying at a Disneyland hotel. Does anyone know if this is correct... I can't seem to find much online about it. I have had a character breakfast before but we stayed at the Santa Fe last year and this is just a flying visit as we're in the area!

Deleted my last post as I didn't realise there will no longer be Character breakfasts at Cafe Mickey after March.

Plaza Gardens will be doing character breakfasts, but not sure if just for hotel guests
