Character Dining - Storytellers, PCH or Goofy's?

Hey guys!
My boyfriend and I (mid 30's, no kids) are heading to Disneyland in late October...YAY! I want to do a character meal this time, as we've never done one before. I've ruled out the in-park options, simply because we only have a two day hopper + Halloween Party ticket, so I want to maximise park time! So we will do a character breakfast the morning that we are leaving Anaheim.

I like the idea of Storyteller's because the the Grand Californian is just so gorgeous! And it looks like a nicer dining experience for a couple with no kids. But I'm a bit iffy on the characters that will be there.

PCH looks cute & fun, with great characters...but is it more aimed at kids/families?

Goofy's Kitchen I'm almost ruling out because the reviews for the food aren't great & it's more pricey than the others (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong).

So which option should I go for? What's your favourite?

We've only been to Storyteller's so I can't compare to the others. We love the restaurant, the food and the characters there. It's a lot of fun and it does seem to be the least crowded of the options.

I (23) did the PCH character breakfast with my mom. There were definitely kids there, but I didn't feel out of place at all. I would do it again; The character selection was great!

I've seen kids at both Storyteller's and PCH Grill, but in general, you'll find lots of families at any character meal. I've been to PCH Grill for breakfast and the food was pretty good. It was mostly your typical breakfast foods, with a few less-common items. We saw Mickey (photo at the entrance), Daisy, Pluto, and Stitch. We just missed Minnie, but she's also there. I haven't eaten at Storyteller's for breakfast, but I've been there during the change over. We saw Chip, Dale, Meeko, Koda, and Kenai in the dining room. I scanned the buffet and it, like PCH Grill, looked like it had a lot of the common breakfast items. I would pick the meal based on which characters you want to see the most!

I've done all 3 with both kids and adults only:

1. Storyteller's - we like the food and the interaction. Beautiful restaurant, and you can grab some Joffrey's coffee at Hearthstone in GCH on your way out. I believe you can also park at GCH for 3 hours for free while dining there. We used to eat here every trip because you could order off the menu, but now it's buffet style only, but still not bad. You can order items made to order like egg whites. I like chewy bacon and I've asked before and they've made it perfectly for me. (We just order room service to the room for breakfast now because it's the same food)

2. Surf's Up in VERY family oriented, food is okay. Lot's of loud character stuff and dancing with kids.

3. We really dislike Goofy's Kitchen. So much so that last time our other family members wanted to go, my husband and I snuck off. The food is soooooo gross. My DD likes the characters but I refuse to eat peanut butter & jelly pizza, soggy waffles, and dried out bacon. Last trip that we actually ate there we went with a successful Vegas based chef and he, his wife, and my husband all had diarrhea after. I think I escaped it because I only had salad and fruit. (A $40 salad apparently)

I'm pretty sure all of them have Mickey's waffles and omelette stations so if you're picky eaters you can always eat those.

My vote is Storyteller's - we've probably eaten there 25 times and never walked away dissapointed.

Thank you all for your replies, they are really helpful. I think I'm leaning towards Storytellers but I'll have to discuss with my partner & see what he thinks. I do love the look of the GCH.

His is great news! DS is 12 and a character junkie (you should see the autograph book he designed for himself). He picked Storytellers because of the rare characters. I'm thrilled to hear the food is good too!
