Character dining - is it really all that?

I have 2 breakfast reservations for character dining.

1900 Park Fare and Cape May Cafe.

I'm not sure whether to keep them or switch it to something else.
My concern is because we will have late nights, I don't want to have to rush in the morning. We'll be staying at all star sports, not sure what time to leave but I figure if the reservation is for 10, I should get going at 9.

I was thinking of cancelling one and reserve Trail End's for dinner and the Chip n Dale sing along campground.

Thoughts?

The character meals are a lot of fun and a way to get autographs without having to stand in line. Whether early morning for breakfast is the right time....only you know your family. But we love character meals...we tend to do dinner but are trying Donald Safari for breakfast in December and can't wait.

If you get 7 out of 7 character meals during your stay, do you think it's too much or not? Too expensive?
I'm not doing CRT, but have reservations for other places.

We have only done the breakfast at Cinderella's Castle. I was doubting myself for spending so much money on a breakfast, it was worth every penny. We didn't do a character meal this last trip, I debated Mickey's BBQ but thought it was too much money for hot dogs and hamburgers when my kids don't eat much.

I think seven character breakfasts in one trip is a little much unless there is an unfortunate reason for it. Once maybe twice in a trip gives it that extra special feel.

We go in 3 weeks and have character meals each of our 4 days...
CRT - pre-opening breakfast
O'hana - late breakfast
Tusker House - breakfast
H&V - lunch

I hesitated with doing all four but honestly, DD3 loves each of the characters you meet here so they were picked especially for our family and it's her first visit! The only meal following a late night is the lunch so it works out! Next time, I imagine we'll skip at least H&V & CRT..hopefully will be staying longer so we can split it up a bit more and try some other places. I also chose some of these based on their reviews...it just so happened they were character meals too!

The only reason to go is for the kids or the kid in you. I like the idea of going to the parks and getting my moneys worth by enjoying the rides not standing in line for character pics. Cue character breakfast. Great idea to do at least a couple since the characters come directly to your table and well hey you gotta eat! As far as how many? Just pick your fav characters and make a couple reservations. I cant see going to 7! thats about 10-12 hours in a restaurant just for breakfast. Too much to do and see at the parks. Its like losing a whole day from the parks.

well, this is our first visit and we say it's for the kids because we don't know if we'll be back in the coming years.
Our plan include the dining option, so I went ahead and booked. But even then we still have to pay tips.

I'll think again and maybe cancel if the character repeats.

We have:
The Crystal Palace dinner (I think it's Pooh and Friends)
1900 Park Fare breakfast (see the Pooh appears here too with Alice)
Cape May Cafe breakfast (Mickey and friends)
Tusker House lunch (this is also Donald and friends)
Garden Grill dinner (Mickey and chip n Dale)
1900 Park Fare dinner (Cinderella and the characters from Cinderella)
Askershus dinner (the Princess experience)

So, I'm thinking to cancel 1900 Park Fare, and see if I can get H&V Lunch instead of Cape May..
For sure wants to keep Crystal Palace, Tusker House, 1900 Park Fare dinner and Askershus.

We went in January and spent 4 days in the parks. For character meals, we did:

Tusker House
Cinderella's Royal Table
Chef Mickey's
Hollywood & Vine
1900 Park Fare
Crystal Palace

We really enjoyed doing the characters at meals and not having to wait in lines to see some of our favorites, especially the princesses. Ones we would do again: Tusker House, Chef Mickey's, H&V, and Crystal Palace. Cinderella's was fun, decent food, but not sure it was worth the price to do a second time. But we got to eat in the castle! 1900 was the worst...bad food, horrible interaction with the characters, just miserable. Next time we are hoping to try Cape May and Akershus.

We love Character breakfast and at least 2 are must when we go. We have done Chef Mickey's breakfast and dinner, Cape May, Tusker House, 1900 Park Fare, Akershus Banquet Hall for dinner and Hollywood & Vine for breakfast.
