Character dining and pre-paid tickets?

This is our first time going to DL in years so I wasn't sure where to start with the character dinings. Do you buy the tickets for it at the gate? Or is it like a regular restaurant and you just pay after you eat? I'm planning on making PS seating as soon as I figure out where we want to eat at.

I thought I saw someone post somewhere a while ago that you can pre-purchase tickets/vouchers for Ariel's Grotto (or any of the other character meals) and save a little bit. I'm planning our trip in May and we're booking everything seperately (got that great deal at Hojo's).

Oh and on another subject, is there a place where I can get good deals on park hopper tickets? The only place I'm aware of so far where I can purchase park hopper tickets is through Disney's site.

I'm not sure about the dinning, but for the tickets you can check with Get Away Today sight they seam to have good prices for park hoppers.

you can also buy character meals thru getawaytoday at a discount we do it this way every year!!!! and the nice thing is with getaway you can do a ticket only purchase and still save money you can use the promo code funtrip to save the $20 fee for your order....have a great trip

You can pre-purchase tickets through Get Away Today or you can make PS and pay when you go. If you are a AAA member you can save 10% off on both Goofy's Kitchen and Ariel's Grotto. You can also save on park hopper tickets through AAA and Costco. HTH!

I think I saw somewhere where we could buy the character meal tickets. Actually it might have been when I bought my park tickets through disney website. But I did not buy the meal tickets (in case for some reason we end up not being able to make it or whatever). I called for PS for Goofy's Dinner and she said we could just pay when we got there.

We used GAT for park hoppers and character vouchers. It was a tad cheaper than our AAA discount. Plus we prepaid so it was easier to budget. You can only get your tickets and vouchers at the guest services window outside of the park or one of the 3 Disney hotels. We got ours at the GCH as we got in late after the park closed and we had 7:30am ps for Storytellers. One bit of advice. Make sure that GAT has the dates of your trip marked on the meal vouchers and tickets. We purchased some online and some over the phone- never paying the service fee. The online vouchers were to be used within a week of purchase but our phone order was fine. One call to GAT from the cast member and all was cleared up!

Am I the only one who can't find the vouchers for character dining on GAT anymore?? I have looked a couple of times in the last couple of days and can't find them AT ALL.

It's still on there. I just found it today. There's a drop down thingy and you have to select dining.

Yes they are still there. When you first get to GAT put your mouse over vacation packages and click on Disneyland. When that page pulls up where it says type (next to where it says Disneyland) click on that drop down menu and click on dining. If you order your vouchers online make sure you change your dates. I've heard of people having problems when they didn't change the dates but a call to GAT has cleared the problem up. HTH
