Which character breakfast is the best or a must do while I am visiting? I am going with my girlfriend and a few friends (all adults) in May. Been to WDW a bunch of times but never visited the west coast original. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

You're going to get a lot of different answers, and the underlying theme is this:
If you want:
Princesses: Ariel's Grotto
Most characters: Minnie & Friends
Most interactivity for young kids (and the only one with Mickey): Surf's Up at the Paradise Pier Hotel.
Best food: Will be debatable, but most people are going to say the Storyteller's Cafe, I think.

Minnie's is my least favorite. I only do it if my granddaughter insists. For food, Storytellers. It is usually where we go when it is all adults. It isn't a character breakfast, but Steakhouse 55 has an AWESOME breakfast and a great ambience!

I like PPH Grill or Storytellers especially as all adult groups (the only way I've travelled to DLR)

I have only been Minnie's and love it, so cute. It's wonderful to seee happy smiles of kids, as they get to meet the characters. Food-wise, it is perfect for me. I am a very un exciting eater so have no interest in facnier options. I do think they offer a good selection and seem to keep the buffet areas stocked, too. I also appreciate that the atmosphere is not loud at all nor have I ever felt rushed do the place being packed for example, it's comfortable. :)

I have read on here that Goofy's in the morning offers a character parade. I don't remember specfics. Anyone recently dined with Goofy? :) What is the parade and is it loud (like a drum or anything) Loud, constant noise like that can be an issue for me. Also does Goofy do anything extra for dinner?

Keep in mind, also, that Goofy's for example, is on Disneyland Hotel grounds so you do not need a valid park ticket to do that. Minnie's, is at the Plaza Inn, in DL, so you do need a valid park ticket on the morning you wish to dine there.

Have fun!:)

Minnie's is also our favorite just based on the character interaction! There are always so many characters and we like that we don't have to leave the park.

Lots of characters at Minnie's (8/9 - 11/12 +!) and it's in the park. All the others have 5 characters (a set 5 at each.) Storyteller's in the GCH has the best food and the atmosphere is more relaxed (not crazed!)

I just booked at 10:40am Minnie & Friends. I'm wondering (worried) that, as the breakfast seems to end at 11:00am, would my kids get a reasonable opportunity to meet characters?

Any help is appreciated.

Never been to Surfs up but have been to the other three, this sounds right to me.

Shouldn't be a problem. It doesn't actually end at 11 I don't think, but even if it does, when we stayed until the end of breakfast one time, all the characters got together in one group and made sure to see all the guests that were still there.

It really comes down to characters....so for us, it's Surf's Up because it has Mickey. All the others are choked full of Chip and Dale.

10:40 breakfasts are the BEST. The restaurant starts to clear out, so the characters spend more time with the remaining patrons. We've had AMAZING character interactions. They don't make you leave at 11:00, and the food is still available, so no worries there, either.

That's great. I just want to make sure my daughter has a reasonable opportunity to meet Minnie that isn't too rushed. I really liked the time...we are capitalizing on EMH then as the crowds filter in, we grab a late breakfast and relax for a bit. Thank you for the reassurance.

Loved Minnie's at the Plaza. Lot's of characters. It's a big difference from the WDW character breakfasts. A lot more interaction, better food (create your omelette station and amazing french toast). I still do character meals at WDW but I feel like Minnie's was a better overall value.

We are trying either Storyteller's or Ariel's in July as we are going to DCA. Really thinking Storyteller's for the food! We shall see.

we love minnie and friends at plaza inn, so many characters, but if you are more into princesses, then Ariel. if you want to see Mickey, than PPH (food there just so so).

We've only been to Storyteller's, probably at least 5 times. We don't have kids in our group and I think it would be the least chaotic. We just went yesterday for Easter and it was delicious as always. Had a mimosa flight Yummm! Dale was very jealous when he came by. We saw Chip and Dale, Koda, Kenai, and Pluto. Their chilaquiles are always so great and they also had a corned beef hash that was outstanding. It's definitely better than your typical Disney buffet breakfast.

A bit of advice...we had the same reservation time. We sat outside, at a table near the railing toward Main Street. A few minutes into our meal, everyone around us left and the only other tables still occupied were on the other side, more toward Tomorrowland. Characters stopped coming over to us and it was a dud of character meal. So I suggest sitting inside, where the characters seemed to hang out more.

Any Goofy's diners? I would still appreciate a review of both breakfast, including the parade (I don't think there is a dinner parade), and dinner there.

We had a 10am at Minnie's during the last week of March. We were the last to see Minnie inside but she was still meeting people outside. As we were leaving (around 11am), the characters were starting to make another round. We used our MM and it was so nice just to sit, eat, relax and eat as the characters came around. It was certainly the one of the best parts of the trip.
