It has been 6 years since I have been to Disneyland. I upgraded our package to include the Character breakfast.

Can anyone give me the pros and cons of any of these.

We ate at Goofy's at the DL hotel on our last trip. I'd like to try the others but don't know much about them. Are they Buffets.....where you dish up your own breakfast?

How do the 3 at the hotels compare to the Plaza Inn? We are staying off-site, so I would like to know how easy it is to go to these. I thought it might be easier to get to the GC or the Plaza Inn......any suggestions.

Thanks Patty

If it has been 6 years, then you haven't eaten at the new Goofy's Kitchen. It is wonderful! Very fun for kids. If you are familiar with WDW, it is similar in character to Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary, but the room is more intimate. Lots of character interaction there. It is an all-you-can-eat buffet with a wide variety of brunch-type foods. Servers bring your drinks and clear your places on a regular basis.

It has been over a year since we had breakfast at the Plaza Inn, it was when they first started with character breakfasts and thingns were not exactly settled in yet. It is a scramble-buffet system, as I recall, and you get your own drinks, etc. Pooh Characters made the rounds... the kids were happy enough.

The GC would be closer than Goofy's, I haven't done the breakfast there, my understanding is that it is a brunch-type buffet. The characters stay in the lobby/entrance area.

I haven't been to Minnie and Friends at the PP since they changed it from the Merlin show.

for the info. I need to book priority seating, and i'm just not sure the best time or restaurant to do it. We want to go to the parks early.....and I hate leaving shortly there after for breakfast. We are arriving in the afternoon on a Saturday and leaving on Tuesday afternoon. That gives us, sunday morning, Monday morning and Tuesday morning for choices. I'm sure Sunday will be the busiest, especially since school is in session. My children are older so the characters are not AS important, just want a little interaction for pictures and a "GOOD" breakfast.
thanks again.....smiles Patty

Hmmmm.... I am not sure that Plaza Inn takes PSs. I think it is a walk-in. Never seen it crowded, but that doesn't mean much, I try to go off-season.

Goofy's is energetic, Storyteller's is laid back. :)

I just read a little info........says they have the typical breakfast buffet as well as Japanese breakfast items also......says it is supposed to be Minnie and Friends???

We did love Goofy's the last time we were there........As many times as I've been to DL...Plaza Inn......never appealed to me much. I can't EVER remembr eating there. Goofy it may be. At least we can catch the monorail over. How has the disney rides been since Fast Pass? Have you found that it alleviates the waits? We enjoyed it at WDW.

thanks again..

We recently had breakfast at Storyteller's Cafe at the Grand Californian. The food was wonderful! We all ordered off the menu and were served much more food than we could eat (for a little over half the price of the buffet). The children seemed to be having fun, even though Chip, Dale, and Pluto primarily stayed in the lobby area. It is a beautiful hotel and is the closest to the park gates.

So what I would like to know is how do you get to either Goofy's or Storytellers if you are staying offsite?
We will be spending most of our vacation in San Diego but will drive up for a couple of days at DL. Since we will arrive in the afternoon, it seems silly to waste admission costs to the parks. But we'd like to start our Disney experience as soon as possible, so what we did at WDW was we dined that first evening at Chef Mickey's (like Goofy's, it appears). We parked at Epcot and then took the monorail over to the Contemporary where Chef M's is, and in that way it felt like we were already in the park -- actually, we were!!
So how do you do this at DL? Where do you park? Where -- or can you -- catch the monorail to the hotel. How does it all work? We will be staying at the Holiday Inn at the Park, so that's where we will be coming from.
Thanks all for your help.:D

Goofy's Kitchen is located at the Disneyland Hotel. Storytellers Cafe is located in the Grand Californian Hotel. I would suggest parking at the parking lot for Downtown Disney.

The monorail runs from DTD to DL and back again--it doesn't go directly to DLH.

Have fun!

P.S.

Disneyland is very different from WDW! You will have fun comparing the two as we did when we went to WDW for the first time in Nov. '01!

WDW is much bigger and spred out--DL/DCA is much more compact--DTD/DCA/DL are all within walking distance of each other. The monorail is more of an attraction/ride and less a mode of transportation! Does that make sense?? LOL!;)

So are you saying that we can park at DTD and then walk to DLH for Goofy's Kitchen? Same with Storytellers?

We LOVED WDW, though it was a bit overwhelming -- so much to do, so spread out. We spent four days in the parks and it still didn't seem like enough. We are hoping that DL is a little more compact, as the kids did tire of the park scene and really enjoyed just the peripherals after awhile.
Thanks for your help!!

Yes...you can easily walk!:)

It's very nice...I'm not sure how old your kids are though. It is a lot of walking--but it's not at all like WDW! If your kids are little (stroller age) you will definately want to use strollers.

DL is very compact. I guess it would be comparable to the type of walk from BC/Boardwalk area at WDW to EPCOT area. You might want to look at a few resort maps to check out what I mean about how compact everything really is!

If you are staying "off-site"--it's still o.k. at DL--not like at WDW. I'm not familiar with the hotel you're staying at--but, they probably offer a shuttle too.

Sue:)
