I read on a thread where Chef Mickey was horrible. I have ressies there and thinking about canceling them. Which other hotels on Disney Property has a great character breakfast. On this particular day I didn't want to go to a park. Any suggestions?::yay:

For any restaurant, you will have lovers and haters. If you are going for those characters (the Fab 5), CM is a great place to see them. B-fast food is hard to mess up. It's typical b-fast fare, nothing special, but decent food.

To answer your question, Ohana has a character b-fast with Lilo Stitch, Mickey and Pluto. Food is served at your table. Much more limited menu, but you don't have to get up for the buffet either.

1900 Park Fare has Mary Poppins and the Mad Hatter. Not sure if other characters are there. It is a buffet.

Cape May at the Beach Club has Donald, Minnie and Goofy. Traditional b-fast buffet food.

I am one who was VERY disappointed in Chef Mickey's!!!! You could do 1900 Park Fare, Ohana's or Cape May. They were all very good breakfast experiences for us!!!!

We love the Cape May breakfast at the Beach Club!!! Goofy, Minnie, Chip and Dale are there in their beach attire. We have always had good food, great character interaction and wonderful service there. It is our check-out day tradition.

We went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast last July. I really wanted to do all the classic WDW trip stuff and CM is a classic. My whole family loved it! I really like breakfast food and thought it was pretty tasy. The character interaction was great too - especially Goofy, my daughter's favorite. She brought her stuffed Goofy to breakfast and the real Goofy ran away with it, making us all laugh. He brought it back of course!

My family loves Chef Mickey's. We went Oct 2010 and April 2009. I have never had a problem with the food, especially for breakfast. Thought the waffles shaped as Mickey were great (which is breakfast standard at all Disney buffets).

The kids absolutely love it, since they do get to see the Fab 5 as well as watch the monorail go through the building. Totally worth the price of admission.

Sorry.. Chip and Dale aren't there any longer. :sad2: Minnie, Goofy and Donald are there for the breakfast meal - still in their swimwear, though! Can't wait to try this meal. Love dinner at Cape May, hoping that breakfast will be just as good.

Cape May at the Beach Club has Donald, Minnie and Goofy. Traditional b-fast buffet food.

1900 Park Fare has Alice, Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Pooh and Tigger for breakfast usually. We love this breakfast! Lots of options, but I will admit it can be a little chaotic in there.

'Ohana is our favorite character breakfast. I love that everything is brought to your table. The juice, fruit and eggs are my favorite. I am normally not a huge fan of eggs, but these have always been good! This has been a family tradition for us since 1998.

We will be trying Chef Mickey's for breakfast this year. Normally, we go to Chef Mickey's for dinner but thought we would give breakfast a shot. We have always been happy with our meals here. Never once had a bad experience. But different strokes for different folks, as they say! :)

Here is a list of the character breakfasts at restaurants located inside Disney resorts (excluding Chef Mickey's, per the original poster's stipulation):

  • 1900 Park Fare (Grand Floridian)
  • 'Ohana (Polynesian)
  • Cape May Cafe (Beach Club)

I don't blame you for not wanting to try Chef Mickey's. It's definitely my least favorite of the bunch for several reasons, but particularly because of the mediocre food quality. Obviously, your decision will rest in large part on what characters you and your family would like to meet.

Personally, I think 'Ohana may be the best overall option. I prefer family-style to buffet service because I find the food comes out hotter and fresher. Of the two buffets, I like Cape May. It's a little less chaotic than 1900 Park Fare.

We love love love Ohana's. It's a must for every trip!

On our last trip we tried Cape May character breakfast and it was awesome. We had great character interaction, Goofy even had a dance class with my kids when they mentioned he had mad dancing skills at the Magic Kingdom.

I really wouldn't skip Chef Mickey's because of the opinions of others. However, if you've decided to cancel, then I might suggest 'Ohana, as it seems to get overwhelmingingly great reviews.

Personally speaking, Lilo and Stitch don't appeal to me; and there's nothing quite like having the "whole group" together like you get at Chef Mickey's. But it's your call.

We hated CM's and will not be going back any time soon. The food, service and character interaction were all horrid! I honestly think that if the Fab 5 were moved elsewhere that the place would quickly be seen for the hot mess that it is.

Of you other options (1900 PF, Ohana and Cape May), I don't really think you could go wrong with any of them. I will say that we loved Cape May and it is our favorite character breakfast on property! The food was fabulous, our servers were attentive and the character interaction was the absolute best.

A character breakFast is just that - a character breakfast. If it's buffet, the food is what it is. it can be very loud.
We love Chef Mickey's and have always had good experiences. How much service is there really - its buffet.? The food is nothing to write home about but nothing is most food at Disney. the characters have always been fabulous.
Ohana's the food is slightly better as it is brought to the table but the choices are limited. Depending on who you are traveling with, that could be an issue. The Characters are there but not as interactive as Chef Mickey's, except for Stitch.
1900 Park is buffet and food is what it is is. The characters are fun, especially the Mad Hatter. It is quieter than Chef Mickey's.
Never done Cape May.
It really is about what characters do you want to see. The food is give and take. Our favorites are with the princesses - the Castle and Ackerhuas for food but it's still not gourmet.
Good luck as you decide.

I vote for Cape May. We did lots of character breakfasts last trip- Crystal Palace, Tusker House, Cape May and Chef Mickey. Cape May was our favorite (Tusker House a close second). Chef Mickey's made me feel like I was eating in a school cafeteria (not the food, but the atmosphere and the chaos!)

Your very wise to cancel Chef Mickeys, in my opinion. Lol! It was one of the worst breakfasts/restaurants i have ever been to. First, for such a nice hotel how could they decorate it so dreadfully?? It looks like a school cafeteria! Second and most important, the food was terrible. The quality was crap (food wasnt even warm). The selection/variety was crap. It was absolute crap!! Its so not worth going, not even for the characters. You can get the characters at better places like Ohana & Cape May.

I've been to Ohana a few times. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Fantastic atmosphere. I love that its a sit down all you can eat breakfast. The pineapple bread & iliko juice is TO DIE FOR!!! Food overall is wonderful. Characters are great. We saw mickey twice!! Kids have a blast. They do so much with the kids, conga line etc.

1900 PF is another good one. That place is gorgeous!!

I have yet to try Cape May. I have heard so many wonderful things about this hidden gem. ;)

Ha ha! I just said the same thing! Didnt realise you had also said it was like a cafeteria. Lol! :lmao: It is quite loud in CMickeys. But the atmosphere AND food both are school-cafeteria-quality to me. Lol!

We LOVED the meal. Our kids had plenty of personal interaction with the characters - Goofy, Minnie and Mickey in particular. Lots of pictures. Our kids were very much into the autographs so getting the Fab 5 in one sitting was important, and saved us time we would have spent in line at Meet & Greets in the parks.

The food was fine - my kids are big on pancakes and waffles so this was right up their alley. I mean, it's a breakfast buffet - it was what we expected.

I agree it is cafeteria-like - but then I am not a fan of the Contemporary in general. I think the decor at CM is in keeping with the hotel, but it is just not my style. but I wanted to ride the monorail and see the Contemporary, so I was glad to do that.

Chef Mickeys breakfast was awesome, it was dinner that was nasty

Cape May is our favorite breakfast of all time

Cape May is a wonderful character breakfast imo, Ohana is also nice, although the menu is limited. Ohana is nice because you are seated and they bring you food. Ohna is near Mk, CM near HS or EPCOT so that could be a deciding factor also depending where you are staying. Also crustal palce inMK is a nice breakfast as well, but that is the pooh characters.

We are trying CM for breakfast in May just for research sake so i can review it, but the dinner was not that great, but I want to see for myself how breakfast is. It's the only character breakfast i have yet to try.
