Deciding what to do for our june trip. We went to the minnie and friends two years ago and am seriously considering not doing it this time. However I feel bad that my youngest won't get that experience. For my oldest she got club 33 and character breakfast. Obviously won't be going to club 33 again. Would it be so bad to skip the character breakfast?

I agree that I would ask your youngest and see what she wants to do.

Out of curiosity, what was it about the character meal that makes your hesitant to do it again? I went to one for the first time in mid-November and it was fun. It's not something I would do on every trip, but I could easily see going again while the kids still like characters. That being said, if you were only going for breakfast, you can find less expensive options elsewhere and you can probably find the characters elsewhere (although it was nice that we saw several without having to go from one line to the next).

My youngest will only be a year. Lol! I am hesitant because of the price. My parents will be here and they can't afford it so I would be buying for a four of us. And the time it takes.

Oh...that changes things a lot (to me at least). In all honesty, I think that taking children that young to a character meal is more for the adults than it is for the child. They probably won't remember it and they may or may not like characters at that point. So given that, I would skip the character meal this time and go when the child is old enough to truly enjoy it.

Character meals are fun and all, but if it is only for your one year old, then it probably won't be worth it. Children that age are very unpredictable when responding to the characters. And if your youngest doesn't end up liking it, it will feel like a waste. I suggest waiting until she is older, but if you know she really loves characters and enjoys meeting them, then keep in mind that the Plaza Inn isn't your only option. Maybe consider a breakfast at one of the hotels if she is into it?

If your youngest is only 1 year of age, skip the character meals & put your money toward something else. Most kids that age tend to be a bit afraid of characters, so you kind of risk plunking down almost $200 for a character meal and it being a dud for the child.

I wouldn't do it for a one year old either. SHe won't remember it at all. Heck, DS doesn't remember anything of our trip last year and he was 2. I'd rather save the money this time and do it when she's a little older.

Thanks! Makes me feel better about skipping it. My oldest has spd too so we aren't sure how she will react. I think spending the money on lunch at cafe Orleans might be a better choice.

Yep agree with above posters. We took my two yr old for his bday in May and went to goofys breakfast at dland hotel and my son was iffy and didn't enjoy. We just went to Minnie and friends in December he's 2.5 and he loved it. I preferred the hotel one as most characters took way to long over an hour to come to our table and we were done.

Agree with everyone else. We have done character dining when my 2 DD's were 10months and 2, and when they were 20 months and 3. My youngest remembers nothing from the first one, and wasn't really into it at 20 months either. My oldest really loved them, so in my opinion, doing them for just kids under age 2 or 2.5 is really a lot of money for the experience.

Oh well gosh, that would change anyone's answer. My 1 year old wasn't even happily eating food at that point.

Gotta include the relevant info in the first post! :)

I haven't read all the responses, but I have to agree with the above post. At a year old, she won't remember it for long, and, if she does, it's likely from hearing the stories about it instead of "really" remembering it, if that makes sense.

At a year old, most kids are going to have a hard time sitting there long enough for all the characters to cycle through, and they may (or may not!) even enjoy the characters.

If money was no issue, I might say "go for it," but if it's going to be a stretch, I say skip it!

I wouldn't go out of my way to do a character meal for a 1yr old. I think Cafe Orleans would be much better!
