Character breakfast for boys?

My DS8 loved Donald's - we had the latest breakfast seating and hung out at the Boneyard playground nearby until it was time. Good thing, playground gets pretty warm later in the day. We thought the character interaction was great.

He really wanted to do Chef Mickeys too so that's where we're going this fall! We're doing a 7:15 a.m. seating (we're Canadians from a time zone east of Florida so it's not so early for us!) and then will monorail over to MK for the pre-opening show.

I heard they're closing Donald's but don't know when - they'll tell you when you call, hopefully.

I'd recommend booking Chef Mickeys, if you choose it, as soon as possible.

The food at Donald's is awful, characters rushed and the atmosphere is pretty bland.

Chef Mickey's has great food and character interaction. It's a little loud, but really fun! You can walk from Contemporary to MK in less than 15 minutes, much faster than taking the monorail all the way around, especially in the morning. Make the earliest possible ADR if you have to be at MK by a certain time. CM's usually has a wait and you want to give yourself enough time to enjoy it.

I am also the mother of a ds9, and I'll tell you our plans --

We have already done Donald's, and we won't be back. The characters were rushed, and we were not impressed with the food.

We are going to Chef Mickey's, O'Hana breakfast, and Liberty Tree Tavern this trip for character meals. DS flat out refused to eat at the Crystal Palace because he thinks Pooh & friends are for babies. He would have my head if I tried to drag him into a meal with a princess, or Mary Poppins. At this age, he is starting to be very embarrassed easily, and he would be beyond uncomfortable, especially since he doesn't have a younger sibling he can "blame" it on.

I have heard rave reviews of Chef Mickey's and O'Hana, so I feel very good about both of those. LTT is more for convenience so we can be ready for the P&P party, but I also think that will be a hit.

You know what his favorite characters are, and what he will think is "babyish". I would let that be my guide...

See, I think age doesnt matter especially at Chef Mickeys. But that may be because I'm a 26 yr old guy/kid and I ate there on Thursday:rotfl:

I have 3 sons, they all loved Donald's when we ate there. The interaction was great, Goofy fed my DS, who was 1 almost 2 at the time, fruit loops, lol. As well as tried to steal his sippy cup. :lmao: I believe it's Donald, Mickey, Goofy and Pluto, unless it's changed since we were there.
That is honestly, the only experience I've had with any of the ones named. :confused3

I have been to all of those character breakfasts and lunches. I would skip Donalds. That is actually the only one we are not doing this year when we go. We were not impressed. The food is not that great and the characters are really rushed. My 8 year old sons favorite is the Ohana. The food is great. Chef Mickeys is also one of his favorites, especially when they get to wave their napkins in the air. Good Luck chosing!!!

Hi! I would say Chef Mickeys. I WOULD suggest Donald's Breakfastosorous but it is being discontinued about a month before you go. You want variety, Chef Mickeys is a buffet. I'm sure your kids will like meeting Mickey and Goofy and all and they have that there also. Hope I helped!!

Of course it doesn't matter to me as grown-up (I'd love to eat at the CP...), but some tween kids become very aware of what they (and their friends) think is appropriate for people of various ages. My ds9 is just getting into this phase, and that's why he won't eat at CP -- but Chef Mickey's is deemed ok, and no, I don't really get it either. I don't pretend to understand it, but I'm willing to accommodate him for something this simple that isn't that important to me.

I suggest the OP try to get a sense of where her ds is with this before selecting a character meal, or if it's not an issue -- consider yourself pixie dusted!:wizard:
