Character Breakfast Canceled

It appears as if Universal has done away with the Confisco Grille character breakfast. A new one is being offered at Cafe La Bamba, but you have to buy a specific package to book it. The old one (which I enjoy) is no longer on the character dining page or in the ticket store. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes the character breakfast is no longer available. It is being replaced with the Superstar Breakfast, which is only available as part of a hotel package.

We, for some reason have never done this breakfast and really wanted to do it this July.....gotta love Spiderman!!!

It never seemed to be really popular. It doesn't say on the website that it is only available as part of a package, though, and I can't see where you add it on if you book through the Universal Orlando website hotel packages. It still has the Three Broomsticks Breakfast listed as an option but no other options for the Superstar Breakfast.

This is what it says... Universal's Superstar Character Breakfast, It's the Most Entertaining Meal of the Day!
Start your day at Universal Studios® with a fun-filled breakfast featuring the stars of Universal's Superstar Parade.
Then, later in the day, you can party with your new friends as Universal's Superstar Parade takes to the streets with one-of-a-kind music and excitement.

Maybe they will do it like they do the Three Broomsticks breakfast and you can also book it if you are staying onsite.

According to the folks I talked to today, The new system wll start to be implemented "very" soon. I really don't need or want their "vacation package", especially since it would cost me hundreds more for this trip, but I may hafta do some "consulting" with the powers-that-be for future trips to get a sit-down with The Minions!

How disappointing! I just saw this change on their email blast - I was excited it was another character breakfast option, but instead it's replacing Confisco Grille?? And your only option is part of a package?? Grrr... I hope they allow you to makes CB ressies for this new breakfast if you already have a on-site hotel reservation and park tickets purchased.

It would also be nice if you could make your reservations more than a month out. Especially as a new experience, it may book fast.

He also said they don't take reservations, it's walk-in only. Maybe there is some sort of special reservation if you purchase through that package shown on their email. But if you look closely, there is a carrot notation next to the item and in small print it says "Separate fees apply".

One more perk to early access for staying at RPR - first dibs at breakfast with the Minions!

Thats too bad I just did the confisco breakfast a few weeks ago and I really liked it! Spiderman was awesome!

I emailed Universal to ask and this is the reply I got.

I also noticed it says a Plated Breakfast, not a buffet anymore.

I was looking forward to breakfast with Spiderman but oh well, these things happen.

i loved the buffet and characters at the spidey breakfast.
i even enjoyed the food there!

i'm not big on 'plated meals' so i'll have to wait to read the reviews of what it consists of before i plan on the new set up at La Bamba.

nice thing about the early entry to the studios will be to take loads of pictures without all the cousins in them.

I liked the star shaped tater tots! omg! I thought I was 8 again! All I ate was bacon and tator tots I was in heaven lol

Funny how I can make 3 calls to Guest Services about a topic, and receive 3 totally different answers.
I do like the possibility of getting the extra early time in US though...we've never had that opportunity! Since the early June Despicable Me opening is on leaky, err shaky ground, looks like we'll "Be Great,...and Be A Minion!" and make a trip later in the month.

Just wanted to comment on this. I have an onsite hotel booked but not a package. We were able to book this breakfast without a package and they take reservations at 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 (daily I believe).

We're not going until August so I'm hoping in a couple weeks someone will report back with more information!!
