Character Breakfast at El Capitan

So I remember someone asking about seeing the movie "UP" at El Capitan but I couldn't find the thread so thought I would start a new one

I got my flyer today and saw that on top of the other offerings Disney is also doing a Character Breakfast with Minnie and Mickey at the Soda Fountain at El Capitan. It is at 8:30am Fri-Sun and includes tickets to see the movie and show that is included at El Capitan. The Prices are $36 for Adult, Kids $34, VIP $46 (this includes popcorn, a drink and a reserved seat). For those who might be wondering that breaks down to $20 for the meal on top of the standard movie ticket prices.

The show they are offering is called Lighten Up! which is a stage show with Disney characters.

You call 1-800-Disney6 for tickets in case anyone is interested. I have to say it sounds kind of fun.

That is so interesting! How intriguing to have a character breakfast outside of a Disney resort! You know, for the sheer fact that Mickey is there, and Mickey is not found at any of the DLR character meals, I bet it will be packed.

Actually with how small the Soda Fountain is I would figure this would be a very intimate event. I almost wonder how they get everyone in! If it wasn't so early in the morning I have to say I would be super interested to check it out myself.

Well I wondered that too, knowing how small that place is. That is why I was envisioning a mob of people clamoring to meet Mickey (maybe even some who cannot afford to go to DLR in these tough times) packed into that limited space. Are there reservations of any kind (when you call the ticket number)? Is it just 'show up at 8:30' and that's it? I am not far from Hollywood Blvd. But I can't see getting there that early either. For some reason, I have no trouble getting to Goofy's Kitchen at 7:00 a.m. because it is at DLR and I have incentive, but arriving on Hollywood Blvd. at 8:30 a.m. or earlier seems a lofty goal for me! But it is an interesting idea and it makes me wonder if they will start doing more character meals in the future.

It looks like from the flyer you have to pre-buy tickets, especially since you would have to guarentee a movie ticket as well for the 10 am showing. I also think that 8:30 might be before the shop opens to the public, but I am not 100% sure on that. I would figure because of the small size that most likely they would try to keep things very organized, especially considering what you are paying.

This is not actually a new offering I have seen it mentioned on past flyers but didn't pay it much mind. I decided to mention it since some people were asking if it was worth going to see the movie at El Capitan and I thought this might make a extra fun reason for some to travel to Hollywood. I expect this will be an offer for other future films as well.

If this isn't a new offering - how often do they do character breakfasts there?

We just learned about the theater & soda place this last trip and were thinking about going there. We'll probably venture that way for our September trip, and if we could do a character bfast too - that'd rock, but I won't hold my breath.

I know that during December they offer breakfast with Santa on the weekends, which could count as a character breakfast.

Wow it is much older then I thought!!!!

According to a quick internet search I found mention of "Meet the Robinson's" back in 2007 offering the character breakfast. And most of the big films I have seen since seem to have it offered. I would suggest as your trip gets closer find out what film is being shown and see if its being offered, so you can have your reservations before you head out.

Quietly laughing a bit maniacally (but not in a bad way, you understand)...and our second day there (you know, DS's birthday) they are starting the Up pre-parades b/c it's premiering soon...gosh...ya *think* there might be some uppity-ups around?????
