I have heard conflicting suggestions on what is best - a fat pen or the clickable Sharpie marker. I would like to hear opinions/experiences/requests from CMs on which is best, or should I just bring both depending on what character is signing. :confused3

I would appreciate any input/suggestions!!:)

SHARPIE!!! They recommend them because its easier for them to hold onto especially the ones in full costume!!!

Sharpie but not green, for whatever reason we had 2 cms tell us no green sharpies. DD was stuck with only the red one that was starting to run dry.

You have to look at it a couple of ways. A sharpie is definitely best in my opinion. It comes down to three reasons:

One, a lot of the characters have oversized hands as well as they have some difficulty seeing do to the mask.

Two, it's more the size of the pen/sharpie. Easier to hold a thicker pen/sharpie (see item one).

Three, it's in the angles. Using a pen, if you hold it at an angle it sometimes won't write very well. Needs to be in more of an upright position. A sharpie can still write at more of an angle.

Sharpie users,

Do the clickable sharpies leak through the pages of the regular WDW autograph books? :confused3

A few months ago Dollar Tree had the big fat pens that glow when u write and have Disney characters in them,I got 2 of the blue ones that have Mickey in them for the kids for our next trip down.I thought they were fat enough for the characters to write with.Might even go get a few fat sharpies now.

Retractable Sharpies are the best. :thumbsup2

They did not leak through any of our pages when we used them in September. We had black and red.

I know the autograph books bought down in disney come with large pens,

however...hehehe i saw quite a few children in line to meet characters with marker all over their hands and faces...and I just cringe knowing its permanent marker. And the kids dont know how to hand the markers over, so one child was handing a sharpie tip up into Mickeys big white glove! :scared1: the Cast member had to take the marker and hand it properly to Mickey.

I used the clickable, big, fat sharpies & card stock paper (primary colors for DS & pastels for DD). I cut the paper in fours, punched holes through the corners and used an old key ring to hold them together. I used a piece of yarn to attach the marker. We did run out of paper & ended up buying an autograph book. The marker came through a little. Plus the white paper is so "blah" compared to the colored. I cut them up & made little scrapbooks for each of the kids with the pics w/ the characters & autographs. If you do this, make sure you get all autographs on one side of each page, not both. Which one will you use for the scrapbook?

I am planning on making an autograph book for each of my girls using the pages that I found here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1608084 (really great designs!):) I will print out the pages on cardstock and have them bound at an office supply store. I will leave one side blank so that I can later attach pictures opposite of the autograph.

I guess that the clickable Sharpie is the way to go (just not green)! Thanks for everyone's advice!:thumbsup2

For those who use sharpies, please don't use the mini-sharpies. They are really too small for the characters to use.
