I remember reading a while ago that it may be possible to leave an Autograph book at the front desk and ask them to have characters sign it while you are at the parks. Does anyone know if you can still do this? Click the spoiler tag below for a behind the magic explanation.

I've heard that every Cast Member has the opportunity to take an Autograph class where they can learn how to sign for any character. I've also heard that If you leave a blank Autograph book at the front desk, and if any of the front desk Cast Members have taken the classes, they will fill the autograph book for you. Has anyone done this before? Is it even true?

I have only heard of this with the cruise line. Which I did take advantage of. I included a huge bag of Lindt truffles and I got pretty much every signature known.

Years ago (1990 to be exact) I was working at WDW and a little girl lost her autograph book. A CM bought her a new one and brought it down to the employee cafeteria under MK and the characters that were there each signed it for her with extra special notes and magic. One of those 'above and beyond' moments.

I was an entertainment CM at WDW and I never heard of a class where other CMs learned the character signatures. Like PP, sometimes CMs from other departments would bring us things to sign, but never heard of anyone other than entertainment CMs being trained to know their signatures.

Thanks for the info! I read it on some random site so I'm sure their information was not accurate. Thanks again!

When did they discontinue this? I went in March and got 2 picture mats signed.

I read about the discontinuation a couple months ago. I think it ended last month or early this month. I would guess that too many people were requesting signatures. The tidbit about getting signatures on DCL had made started getting mentioned in news articles along with sites like Disboards and Cruise Critics.

Since you could get 2 items per stateroom, even if only 10% of the staterooms requested on the Dream or Fantasy, this would have been about 250 items to have signed. My guess is once more and more people knew about it, that the numbers just grew.

I heard you could still drop off picture frame mats at the hotel desk and get them signed. So this is not true? I'd rather not pack them if it's not happening. ;) I'm packing enough as it is!
