Character Autograph Question

Hi all!

Getting ready to fly out on Friday and thought I'd ask this question. The last time we were at WDW, we bought the kids tshirts, and then with t-shirt pens, we had the characters we met sign the back of the shirts. These turned out so cool!

I was reading about characters not wanting Sharpies-- I can imagine their poor "paws" getting all black from the sharpie. Would we be turned away from those fabric pens too?

If so, is your only option for character autographs in an autograph book with a pen? Anyone else have something "different" for this?

OH--- and one last point for y'all. We usually only bring the shirts to character meals. My kids really didn't care for the "stand in line to sign" thing.

You won't be turned down if you bring a Sharpie - that is what we have used the majority of the time.

You can use an ultra fine sharpie. It has small tip but still writes easy.

We use retractable sharpies for autographs. I read about them on here and it worked out great when we used them. They are the same size as a regular sharpie, but are retractable, like a standard pen. There is way less mess because you can click it open when you are handing it to the character and then click it closed afterwards, and there is no fumbling with a cap. We love using these.

Was just about to post that! My cousin came to Disneyland last summer, and was totally bummed that the characters were not allowed to sign her boys shirts while on the person.
So when she got home, she mailed them back to me, and I made the rounds with them.
Remember that they need to be taught for a good autograph. I put the shirts in Embroidery hoops, and handed them over like a autograph book. We got several comments on how neat it was, even from Fairy Godmother! We could get about 3 autographs before the shirt had to be repositioned in the hoop. (and a few times we weren't paying attention, so some of the autographs are upside down...oops!)

What a good idea with the embroidery hoops. What I do is we put them in a gallon plastic bag with the markers and when we get to the character dinner, we usually spread them out on the table for the person/animal to sign. We're not the stand in line for autographs kinda folks.

I booked Ariels for dinner and Goofy's kitchen. Didn't want to do breakfasts.... that should be more than enough on the back of a shirt. But I like the idea of if we do see someone they want, to smooth it out over an autograph book (or something like it).

Don't know the ages of your kids so not sure if these ideas would interest you.

When my boys were younger, we took Disney storybooks to the parks and got the characters to sign the inside covers.

Also, the first time we took DS8 for his birthday, we bought a Disney birthday card and got several characters to sign that for him.
