chapstick in washer -- on flannel sleep shorts - HELP

this is "budget" as I don't want to buy another pair.

My dd has flannel sleep shorts (pj's) and she left a chapstick in the wash in a pair of jeans.

The chapstick came out of the jeans but got on the shorts.

How do I get the chapstick stain out of the shorts ? They are light colored the chapstick is pink. It's kinda waxy and sticky. I tried shout and washed them again but it didn't work.

Any ideas?

I can't tell you how many times I've done this. However, the tube has never opened so we just lost the Chapstick! I would try a de-greaser or Dawn.

wet them down, scrub dawn into them, and then what? leave them sit for awhile? do I need to soak them in hot water later to loosen the waxy feel?

Rewash after applying a stain treatment. This has happened with Chapstick, gum, crayons, markers......etc.....

I agree with the pp - use Dawn. We are famous for doing this in our house (or should I say my dh)!

I put the Dawn on it and then let it sit - sometimes I forget and it sits for a day or so. Then I just re-wash it.

I have also sprayed goo-gone on chapstik stains as well.

I hate when this happens. I'd go with soaking them for a bit and then washing in really hot water.

Try soaking in oxyclean overnight,, this sometimes works for me

If those don't work, try cornstarch. Just rub it into the spot, let it sit an hour or so and wash in the hottest water the garment will stand.

After check it and see if it came out before putting it in the dryer. If not, you may have to try a few times.

It's worked for me. Luckily.
