Changing website reservations?

I think I've read some posts that indicate that online reservations made on the Disney website are more difficult or costly in fees to change/cancel than reservations made over the phone. I have had success in getting the room I want online while the Disney reservation staff tells me they are sold out. If I need to change/cancel my online reservations, will I have more difficulty doing so, or be charged any extra fees? Can anyone share any of their experiences?? Thank you!
