Changing travel party?

My family of 4 (stateroom 1) along with my mom, my sister and my sister’s boyfriend (stateroom 2) are supposed to be going on the Wish in October, bookended with WDW. DH and I are paying for the trip.

My sister is currently not speaking to me and my mom is by and large supporting her which obviously throws the trip into question. Her actions toward me do not make me eager to go on a trip with her and certainly not pay for it. We have some time before we really have to decide one way or another but not a lot.

My family of 4 will be going regardless because a/ the money is already spent and most of it can’t be recouped and b/ I’m not going to punish my kids over this. If the current stateroom 2 occupants don’t go I would prefer to bring someone else instead of just calling it a total loss so I am wondering what is the latest I could change a travel party on my reservation?

I'm assuming you're not sailing concierge.

Any changes to names on the reservation will be re-priced at today's rates. Given that today's pricing is probably more expensive than when you booked, you'd be out the deposit on the original guests and paying whatever the current prevailing rates are.

Edited: Play around with the reservation and see what happens? Either you can swap 2 of the 3 people out without a problem or you can't.

I didn't think name changes are re-priced to prevailing rates, or is that new? You may be able to do a name-change for a relatively nominal fee -- but you cannot change the primary name on the reservation so that could mean 1 of the 3 fares is "lost."

Good luck! I'd be checking with DCL about your options sooner rather than later, if for no other reason than to know what you can/can't do.

I keep reading different things. Half of what I read says it isn't and then half says it is.

But it's definitely a cancellation based on the terms and conditions.

We have a 7-night booked on the Fantasy in April 2024 and staying concierge for 3. We added a 4th person and the only charge we had was the difference to add a 4th person.

Agree the T&C reads as a cancellation. But I'm sure I've read reports that people changed a name for like maybe $50 instead of a full cancellation penalty. Admittedly I haven't done it myself so hopefully someone who has will chime in.

I found this post from April 2022:
We just went through this with our TA. You can change the name of a cruise passenger up to 1 week prior to sailing. After 45 days prior there is a $50 fee.
