changing to fairytale package

We already have reservations the first week of Nov. through AAA. I just got the e-mail from Disney about the extended fairytale package dates. This will now include my vacation time. So, my question is: Will I get to keep my orignal booking and get to take advantage of the deal or will they cancel and rebook? I would hate to have to pay another $200. deposit. Anyone done this yet?

I did the same thing. I had AAA for a stay at the CR. I was able to switch over with no problem. I originally had it booked thru CRO, and they changed it over for me with no problem. I didn't have to cancel & rebook. After a few days I then again switched over to the GF, again with no problem.

We had our trip booked through a travel agent at our local AAA office. When the FTP came out they had no problem changing our reservations without a new deposit. We will be at the Contemporary this July 13- 20 after 4 days at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes for the Triplet Connection Convention. Have fun on your trip!

I originally had a room only booked through Disney. I changed last week to the FTP and today when I called to put the deposit down, the CM said that "I couldn't switch the reservation over", so I cancelled the room only and put down a new deposit on the FTP. She said it would be about two weeks before they credit my charge card.

We had 'room only' reservations for 8 nights with the Disney Club discount. When the package was extended I called to make the switch. I ended up keeping the first night as room only with the DC & we are still getting the 'free' mini golf. The next 7 nights are now with the package. We didn't have to put any more money down & we kept the same reservation number for the whole thing. I was very happy with the CM who handled the switch!!!

You were able to keep your same ressie # because you booked through DC on the original one and when you book DC it is considered a package-since the FT package is also a package they just changed it around a little.

When you book a room only ressie and then you want to switch to a package you do have to cancel the original ressie and book a new one.

If you have a AAA ressie they should just be able to make the switch but make sure you switch to the FT package before June 29 if that is what you want to do.

Thanks for the responses. I called my AAA agent this afternoon and she was able to convert my 7 night room only reservations to the 7 night fairytale package without making another deposit. The only change is now we have to stay at Music instead of Movies. Which was fine with us since this is an adult only trip for us.

I just got a call back from my AAA agent. She said that the CM from Disney kept her on hold for two hours so I could keep my original Hotel All-Star Movies! I thanked her for going through so much trouble for me even though I did not even complain about having to switch hotels. She said it was the CM's idea. I guess the magic has already started!

I had a room only with AAA discount and switched to the FTP, had to get a credit for the original deposit and put a new one down. We did get the ASMo but had to have the preferred rooms instead...we really don't think the preferred section is that great! We thought about asking if we could just have another bldg at check in.

What is wrong with the preferred section? We have stayed at ASMo once before and got way back in the Mighty Ducks bldg. and I hate to admit this, but we kept getting lost getting back to our room after a long day in the park. It took us 4 days before we figured out which way to go!! I figure the preferred rooms are closer to the main bldg. and for us, it will be for the best.
