Changing the strap on Crocs

I ordered a pair of the collegiate Crocs as a birthday present for my father, and I got them in the mail today, but the strap with the team logo on it was separate. The strap on the Crocs was the same color as the rest of the Crocs, so I am trying to replace that strap with the collegeiate strap.

So my question is, is there a specific way to replace the strap? I have been pulling on the straps, but they just won't come off. I am afraid of pulling too hard and breaking the rivet. Will the staps just pop off if you pull hard enough?
