Changing SSR "Resi" for THV

Does anyone know or have any experience with changing a reservation at check-in? My question is for my brother's family. They own at the HGVC, and have used some of their points to reserve a 2-Bdr at SSR. After showing them the THV, they have fallen in love with them and would like to stay in one. They already have their booking from HGVC and reservation number for SSR. If a THV is available when they check-in, the later part of May. And request to change from the 2-Bdr at SSR to THV. Do you think they would accommodate that?

it sounds like they exchanged through RCI. DVC put a SSR 2BR out for exchange and they got it. a THV is different and it would not be possible to change that reservation.

if it were a DVC owner using pts, it would theoretically be possible to switch the reservation...but there is virtually a zero percent chance that a THV would be available for several nights in a row on short notice, much less a full week (assuming that was the exchange period.)
