Changing rooms – what to expect

Our upcoming trip will be the first time that we will have to change rooms in the middle of vacation. We are staying at BLT, both rooms are a one bedroom but one is MK view (4 nights) and the other is Lake view (5 nights).

I am most concerned about the frozen and refrigerated foods that we will need to transfer between the two rooms.

What is involved with transferring luggage and food between the two rooms? I assume we just call bell services and they store the stuff until our room is ready? How early will they come and get the luggage and food? We have to be an AK at 8:30am for a tour the morning that we need to do the transfer so we can’t hang around the room all morning waiting for bell services. I guess we could deliver the stuff down to bell services ourselves?

Thanks,
Laura

The one time I had food transferred, I asked at the Bell services desk and they had a "reservation" type schedule for pickup. I would try to schedule your pickup when you first check-in.

I think you need a box or bags for your food, because they did not seem to have any way to package it.

We switched rooms mid-stay at BLT a few weeks ago. You can either reserve a time for bell services to come or just call that morning. They arrived pretty quickly. I had everything packed up and ready to go for him. I did save all the grocery bags from our initial trip so I could bag everything up in categories, like no refrigeration, refrigeration, freezer, etc. Worked great!

We moved from AKV to BLT on our recent trip and everything made it over fine. As noted above, save your grocery bags to package things up. You may even want to take some zip-locks of different sizes to package up opened items from the fridge.

You can arrange a specific time ahead of time for bell services to come for your items. They should be able to come to the room as early as you desire. With future trips, I think that I will pre-arrange a pick-up time with bell services, just so there is no delay.

I find it helpful to have one or two of the reuseable grocery bags (they hold more than the plastic) to repack items. They take up very little room in the suitcase.
