:earseek: When I originally booked our reservations to BWV last summer, I booked us into a handicap room because of my arthritic hip.
I had a hip replacement over the winter. The operation was a complete success, and I feel great. I really don't think I will need the handicap room any longer.
Would there be a problem with switching from the handicap room to just a plane standard view room? I would like to open this room up in case someone would need it.
We will be there at the end of June which is only 2 months away.

The only problem is that it's highly unlikely you'll be able to get a room, much less another standard view. I'd say you're stuck with what you have but certainly no harm in trying or wait listing. DVC generally has more HC rooms than needed so you shouldn't worry about someone else needing it. They are usually forcing them on people that don't.

Since a handicap accessible room is not a room category (like Standard or Preferred), your request for a HA room was a request. And requests can be changed. I think if you call MS and change your request that they will note your preference and try to work with you.

I'm assuming you already have a Standard room reservation? If so, you should be able to make the request for a regular Standard view room.

Again, I'd suggest that you call MS.

Not quite true. The HC rooms are booked directly. I don't think they can just change it without cancelling and rebooking. And likely the standard view won't be available.

That's news to me. We added "handicap" to our request when we took my father one year, and there was no talk of checking availability. They may have done it without me knowing it, I suppose. But it was for early December, and the resort was full, so I don't think cancelling and rebooking would have been successful. And we got the room.

Maybe it's different if you're going in the other direction, like the OP is. But like I said, it's news to me if so. HC has always be a request, not a guarantee.

I thought I saw a posting once that there are no handicapped standard views at BWV, they are all preferred.
